Hi guys.
i know the stats say it moves 50 something percent more air but is this also true with the new xbox 360 models? jasper or something like that?
a friend told me that they have improved the efficiency of the newer models so it may not be worth buying and installing the talismoon fan.

just wanted to know how true this statement is, if at all. as i have just bought a brand new 360 and therefore fall into this category,
thanks and regards,
Mubs

I have a Blue Talismoon whisper fan and I do see a performance gain with this fan over the stock 360 fan. I have it running on a Jasper unit and it runs so cool. My friend has a Xenon motherboard and he has a Green Talismoon whisper and that one even runs cool.

Xenon was first, then Zephyr, Then Falcon, and now Jasper

Xenon = 90nm CPU/GPU
Zephyr = 90nm CPU/GPU with extended GPU heatsink
Falcon = 65nm CPU and 90nm GPU
Jasper = 65nm CPU/GPU

I would not recommend any of the talismoon products that plug right into your current fan connector. I bought the blue whisper max fan and when i installed it it initially worked great, and when it got warm it spun up to speed (was a little loud but worked great). It only worked like this for a day and then one fan quit working. i tried to put the stock fan back in but same problem. It seems there are built in fuses to the mobo that blow when too much power is drawn. so i had to run both fans of the same lead by crossing the two power connectors with a wire, so now they run at around 7v max i think. it still stays cool but i wish they would run at a full 12v.

My cousin also got a talismoon product that plugged into the fan power connector, it was a led fan shroud. when he attached this he got the same exact problem, blew the fuse for the fan over the gpu. i had to cross the leads on his the same way to get both fans to spin (he had stock fan).

Also i had a falcon mobo and he had a xenon. So unless your planning on directly soldering to a 12v supply idk if i would suggest it. I love how it looks but am not happy with performance/electrical issue.

I have had 2 consoles running just the whisper for months now and not an issue. The whispers only run at 5v just like the stock fan. The "Max" version, you can switch between 5v and 12v, and I could see a problem running the 12v constantly, draining too much power.

you do know that the talismoon fan is a 'replacement'?
you dont put it together with the stock fan at the same time.

In 12 volt mode it grabs the power from the dvd drive power supply. I been running mine in 12v mode for all most a year now.

The 360 power brick puts out 16.5A, so a fan such as the whisper probably uses 0.3A each, so it's safe. When they designed the brick they made it output more than needed.

I have soldered min whisper to a 12v source on mobo right at the point of the power connector. Search for my mod here. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/676729

These Whisper fans seem like they might be a gimmick. Does any one know if they have solved the e74 ana/hana video scaler chip over heating issue with the jasper? I had a falcon 360 die after one year of use from the ana/Hanna chip overheating giving me a e74 and one red light.

Alright, I've read through this thread, and I must say I'm a little concerned. I just ordered a Talismoon Whisper Fan off ebay and now I'm hearing some cases of it screwing up the xbox. I'm actually getting the fan before I get my 2nd xbox. The first one worked great for a year, and about a month ago red ringed. I got it fixed, but that only lasted a week. I then tried to fix it myself by replacing the thermal paste and putting in the washers... That didn't work either. Anyway, I found the Talismoon and figured I'd do what I can to keep the 360 running as cool as possible from the get go. Someone told me they installed the Talismoon and it red ringed after about 2 weeks, and now I see on here there's a case of some fuse being blown. These are the only two negative comments I've seen/heard of. A little more feed back on whether or not these things are 1) safe to put in and 2) worth while would be greatly appreciated.

Been using a Whisper Max in my Elite for maybe almost a year with ZERO problems. Have a regular Whisper in my other 360, one in my daughters, and have installed over 20 in 360's for other people. There's never been a problem. I highly recommend them. It's amazing how cool the Max keep the 360.

I have installed over 10 Whispers & 4 Whisper Maxs over the past two years without a problem.

IF I had to say anything remotely negative, it would be the super loud noise level of the Whisper Max fan in 12V mode.

Other than that ... not only do they look cool but they keep your console cool too!

So what I'm saying is it's fine to have it plugged into your dvd power, the brick will just supply for amps, but I still don't like this. I soldered it to direct power. Works either way, keep your panties on.

Well since I posted my question I've received an installed my Talismoon Whisper Fan (not max) and I'm still worried. I can feel the increase in air flow, but the bottom of my xbox 360 still seems to run very hot, right under the disc drive. Now I'm aware that that area is likely to produce heat, it's just that the amount of heat being produced seems a bit much. In addition, I have had my xbox freeze on me twice, and it's only a month old. As I think I mentioned in my previous post, I'd heard things of the Whisper Fan causing heating problems rather than fixing them. With this in mind and contrary to what I've read here and elsewhere, am I being paranoid or should I legitimately be worried?

I know its a replacement, i did not use it at the same time as the original. It is the regular whispermax (not max) and has a direct plug into the stock power output. but i had one fan quit working while using it exactly as intended. when i plugged stock fan back in same side was not working, therefore the whispermax must have blown an onboard fuse. It was spinning at full speed as well when it was working. to fix this i had to splice the wires to run off the same side.

Theres 3 things, somewhat more like 4 u could do that would HELP your cooling experiance.
Mind u this is just an idea I use, im not saying its the best but it works for me.

I bought a cheasy laptop cooler to sit under the 360, it works great and comparing the bottom of the 360 after gaming a few hours vs having it(laptop cooler) on & off is a huge difference. PLus it runs off the usb so its no big e!

2nd Theres a external fan you can buy that runs off SEPERATE power souce, that way you modify NOTHING. u just flick the swiothc and it runs constant and u can barely hear them.
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=206211704
This is pretty much the best option to compliment the laptop cooler, which I bought at frys, both for $20 together.

3rd option, if to get the 12v wisper max fans, and rig them to an external power souce(IE molex hardrive adapter) or what ever there called, theres a dude on YOUTUBE who did that, but its a little extreme. OR u can take apart Turbo Cooler and use that power source, I tried it cause I bought 2 and it works just the same.

4th, this is what I do all the time, and very important. If you play more then 1 hour of gaming, always go to the dashboard and let it sit for 5 min, this cools down the 360 as its not tkaing a load or using more heat, then it cools down. Theres a cool video showing this should u wish it, let me know and Ill post the link.

Good luck.
