This is a very common problem that tons of 360 consoles suffer from. There are several "fixes" posted all over the internet if you google or check YouTube for "Error E74 XBox 360". Some may work and fix your console temporarily BUT chances are the problem will return. This problem is comparable to the 3 red lights of death problem. Once you've got it, your system is as good as gone eventually. Sucks.

Unfortunately, its a problem with the graphics (ANA) chip going bad. There's really no way to restore it to the condition it was in when you originally bought it. Are you located here in the states?

I don't know of any permanent fixes for the E74 error. All I can suggest is to try a few fixes found on YouTube and see if they work for you. Don't do any towel or heat gun tricks. You could also simply send it back to M$ to repair it (which will be way cheaper than buying a new one).

it is possible to apply pressure to the ANA chip and heat and get it to work again. SImilar to the penny trick on the memory chips. I am not sure if the ANA and HANA are the same or not but i have fixed a 360 that had no video but did have sound by applying pressure to the HANA chip and letting the unit get very hot while cooling the CPU only so the GPU got really hot and the heat spread to the memory and HANA. They do get hot on their own but you now it all adds up.

IF you can send to microsoft under warranty i would definetly do that, but being in bangladesh i do not know if that is a viable option. if it is then definetly send to MS.

I assume it is flashed also so do you have an undamaged warranty sticker?

this is from a diff thread on here i found: E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU.

Use the saerch function at top and enter e74 and you will get a lot of threads back on it

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

you could "reflow" the board the right way. Should give you many more years of use. Essentially Stealths idea is similar to reflowing except it is done with regulated heat above and below the board and without adding pressure. I have fixed about 5 of these "no video" boards since I got my reflow station and preheater.

DON'T USE TOWELS!!!!!!

you have a real relfow station or a homemade setup? I looked into them but way to exspensive for me to take on. I just wish my company had one i could use on the low down. I saw a video of a guy that made one with a griddle breakfast cooker and a heatgun but that is just too ghetto for me.

My original one was like that ghetto one. Those "will" work with the right heat profile. The profile shown in the youtube video was completely wrong and is sure to burn up CPU's. The one in the vid is not just a heat gun... it is actually a reflow station used for exactly what he is doing.... the one I have now is a bit more refined, has an infrared preheater and the nozzle is on an x/y axis device. I would love to get the one that can x-ray the boards to verify reflows without even powering up the board.
