Ok so I went to circuit city during their last week. I saw a 4gb Kodak SDHCSD card to use for my wii for 10 bucks so i got it. I tried using it straight from the wii nothing not supported yada yada yada. So my question is can I format the SDHC card to regular FAT16 to use for the wii and how? or did i just waste 10 bucks.
The homebrew channel can use the SDHC card for loading homebrew, wads, roms, exc... But mo matter what you do the wii isnt going to be able to read it normally.

Have you personally got an SDHC card to work through the homebrew channel? Because I tried to use a 8GB PNY SDHC Card through the homebrew channel with known working files from a 2gb SD card i used previously and when I start the homebrew channel nothing shows up. I go back to the 2gb and it works fine. I've read that the homebrew channel is supposed to support SDHC, but in my own trials, it hasn't for me. To the original poster, people say the homebrew channel supports SDHC cards, but i've only got 2gb non-SDHC to work, formatted to fat16. Also I've tried to format a SDHC card to fat16 and in windows xp it will not allow me to. It only gives me the option of fat32.
FAT16 only supports partitions of 2GB. Although, you can use 4GB Partitions by setting the cluster size to 64K (if you have the option!).
You can of course create partitions of 2GB and format them with FAT16.
