Did anyone go out and buy this? I sold my black elite for $350 and bit the bullet and got the RE Limited Elite. I have to say the red is super sexy.
Here's the details on it for those who might want to know
Manufactoring Date - Jan 27th, 2009
150w power supply
Lite-On DVD drive
Of course, it was modded before power ever hit the console.
Also, it came with a RE Premium theme and SSF2TurboHDRemix marketplace codes... I don't even need the SSF2 one since I had this already.
Oh yeah, NXE was already installed.

I'm really tempted to do the same. It's actually a pretty good deal considering it comes with a $60 game.
Did they also give you the audio dongle with it, like with the Elite?

Yeah, they give you everything the Elite does... Hell, it IS an Elite ;)
But they throw in RE5, RE5 premium theme and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix.
Plus it's a Elite Jasper.

even cheaper- a 5 dollar can of krylon for plastic. i just painted my xbox black and added a piece of plexi on top to see the talismoons. looks sweet.

Woah did this thread get hijacked. To answer why not use a can of spray paint or buy a case in whatever color I want. Well, it's a limited elite. LIMITED. Not HALO 3 limited (lol) but really and truely scarce. Once they're gone, that's it.
Plus, I'm the biggest RE fan I know of. I'm probably the only person on here that owns the original Biohazzard, BH2 and BH3 for the PS1 plus all the domestic releases. I even own the original on the Saturn if that gives you guys any hints.
And to have an "official" red case is not the same as an aftermarket one.

the local frys has a bunch of RE edition elites. they were selling them days before official launch. i got the original psp slim from them days before launch.
but PS2Menace is right. nothing is better than the original, and official. especially if it's a limited/collectors edition.
just add a red talismoon fan, and you're good to go!

Eh really it doesn't look that great to be honest, i'm not cutting anyone down (besides the designers), but it looks like the creativity side of who ever designed this box just ran out of steam.
They could have made it bloody, put a re logo on it or something to make it a limited edition and something you can't easily duplicate, but no it's just red and truely disappointing if you ask me. The headset isn't even red, and of course they aren't going to match the rol leds with red, so instead you have the red/green christmas effect going on unless you invert the rol board.
If you ask me it looks like the halo edition had a lot more design in it. They changed the chrome bezels to orange, and did the design on the sides plus the different colors for the faceplate, and the headset was actually the halo green color.
So i wouldn't be comparing this to a halo 3 edition console if i were you.
If you look at the box, it looks like they put more effort into designing the graphics on the side of the cardboard box than the actual xbox itself.
I think what i want is some good resolution pictures of the RE box so i can see for myself. So if you get some free time take some pictures and post them here.
If anyone has any comments regarding painting and things of that nature post those comments/questions in this thread

i agree C4RN i think they could have went that extra step to make it more of a custom tailored to the RE world than just red. at least with the Halo one they added some flair even if a small amount. wouldnt it have been awesome with like a bloody hand print with RE in front of it sorta like the left 4 dead box with the 4 fingers.

It's just digusting how one thing can be so detailed and the other can just be thrown together.
I'm sorry OP i should just shut my mouth. I don't mean to take away the pride in owning a limited edition console. It's just i don't get these designers. To work at MS you have to have at least a bachelors degree if not a masters and this isn't what i'd expect from a team of designers with that much education or experience. It just sickens me to no end.

I agree. Could've been designed better than just red. But it's an elite jasper that's limited. That's my point. And that link on ebay is to a collector's edition of the game. Not the system. I dunno if you meant to say it was cheaper or more expensive. I dunno. Blame Grey Goose ;)

I read a story in the past week. MS is discontinue all elites and just going to do a lot of bundle units now and doing new packages with more onboard memory or an 80 gig drive. it was a leaked info from a "trusted source" sorry to hijack thread dudes :(

I looked at that ebay link. Funny how it a nstc-j region item yet all the wording on the items are in English. I'm not saying it's bogus... it's just weird.
And I also agree about the RE:LE being kind of plain. Look at that limited edition GTA4 Elite MS passed out a short while back. That was nice. They could have done something with this RE Elite.

Did the RE theme come preinstalled or did they give you a download code for it?
Just wondering because if it's preinstalled and you transfer data from an old hdd to the new one wouldn't the extras get wiped out.
