Ok guys, I'm not good with tutorials but if you guys are having problems with JungleFlasher 1.51 beta you can use FirmwareToolbox to flash your drive, I only used JungleFlasher to put the drive in Mode-B that's it...As most of you already know the rules set for FirmwareTool 4.8 are only for iXtreme 1.4 not 1.51... Here is how I flashed my 78 with FirmwareToolbox..
Microsoft .net framework 2.0 or 3.5 is required!
Here is how to manuall get your Xbox 360 drive letter detected in Windows!
Control Panel, Add New Hardware Wizard, Wizard will search for new hardware recently installed on you computer, You will see a list of all your hardware recently installed, find your Xbox 360 drive then highlight it and click next..Your Xbox 360 drive will now appear in the control panel.
Here's how to manually Install the PortI/O 32 driver.. Vista 64 user might have to go old school with Slax 2.1 for Mode B..JungleFlasher only works on 32 bit operating systems from what I've heard..
Go to control panel, Add New Hardware and click next, Wizard will scan for new hardware, You will be shown a list of hardware already on your pc, Scroll down and select "Add a new hardware device", You will then be asked if Windows should search for new Hardware, Select "NO" and install manually, Click the "Have Disk" and point Windows to the driver directory of the PortIO32 distribution, Click next to install your new hardware, Files will be copied and installed the click finish to complete
"MAKE SURE YOUR DRIVE IS STOCK BEFORE FLASHING TO IXTREME 1.51!!!!
Go to Tools > Direct Drive Flash (GDR Only) > Differential Flash (RESTORE FIRST!!! If you do the Patch method on an already hacked drive you will Brick it!!
1) Open the hacked firmware under firmware File, for 78/79 drives make sure your drives key info matches.. Here is an example, key information lookis like this....(@5e10) So the ixtreme hacked firmware should looks like this...ix151-78-5e10.bin.
2) Copy and paste or type in your drives original key and hit save key when finished.
3) Go to Tools > Direct Drive Flash (GDR Only) > Differential Flash (PATCH)
4) Check that your Hitachi drive is selected in the drop-down list and Hit "Read and Detect Differences"
5) Select "Start Flashing" and let it finish..
This is how I flashed my Hitachi 78FK with FirmwareToolbox 4.8, all other Hitach drives should be the same.. Just use Jungleflasher to Put drive into Mode-B.. If you guys have more info to add please help me out..

Good step-by-step guide, thanks.
One question, if you have to use JF anyway to restore to stock / change to mode b, why not use jungle flash to do the rest? Im guessing its because it seems to work differently every time with Hitachi's and there is not clear set way it will work everytime
Maybe the mods could add this to the Ultimate sticky?

from everything i've read and my own hitachi flash experience, it seems no method is 100%. try different things like opebing jf THEN powering on drive, try powering the drive on then open it then hold it open and unplug power to get in mode b, etc. seems like us hitachi guys have to do a bit of experimenting.

Jungle Flasher for hitachi works fine just doesn't work as the jungle flasher tutorial states.
Use Slax to put into mode b
When windows loading screen starts open 360 tray
Open Jungle Flasher
It DOESN'T matter that vendor info doesn't show up as long as your drive is in the drive drop down list and selected your good to go
Then just follow the Jungle flasher guide missing out the putting drive into mode b because you already did this via slax cd

I have a 79, I can get it in to mode b, even recognize and unlock with the unlock command. Then when i try to dump it fails. research on the internet suggests to drop jf and use ftb at this point. Above the tutorial you said nothing about the audio cd. Are you skipping this process and manually adding the hardware thru windows? Its in stock form. and the fw files can there be more then one in there. Having trouble knowing which keys to put in when I get to that point finally.

iam just about to flash my 78fk using this method and i just read the diferences between the original FW on the drive and the hacked FW i a about to flash on and it asks me if i want to KEEP the keys already on the drive ? Do i cleck yes or no ?? please and thankyou
nevermind i did it.....yay :P
P.S.
for all hitachi users having troble gettin in mode B here is a little known trick that makes getting into mode be a JOKE
WARNING !!!! this only works with a hitachi drive with hacked FW on it !!!
1. Power on 360
2. Ejext the dvd tray open
3. Pull power out of 360 (pull the power cord out of the power brick)
now the 360 should be off with now poer conection and the tray should still be open
4. Re-connect power ad turn on 360
the tray should close on its own.
BAM your in mode B baby !!!!
To test if you ae in mode B, press the eject button... nothin happend.. press again and it should open. it should take 2 times to open or close the tray.

I cannot get the portIO32 to install correctly! Will Firmware Toolbox or jungleflasher work correctly with the normal sata 580c drivers I used along time ago to flash to 1.4 so I can get 1.51?

Help me with driver issues!:
I'm following the Jungleflasher guide v1.6b for the new 0.1.55 beta
This image shows what I have installed only it seems wrong to me. I installed the SATA 580c drivers, removed the viamraid.sys and manually installed the portIO32 since it told me to install it manually. It says 3249 not the usual 6421 but the guide said it might say this if I installed 580b and above, which I did. But why is that the card comes up in a different catagory than under the portIO32, is this normal?

I will just post how i successfully flashed a Hitachi 47 today after having numerous issues i got it to work, on Vista btw. Seems to be a couple of probs with vista but this is how i did it. Install the portIO device driver, and then just leave the VIA sata card installed with whatever drivers vista gave it. Run JF, hitatchi tab and get it into mode-b, then read the firware with the WIN API box selected. Once its read merge it with the ix1.51 firware. Once you have the new hacked fw save it to file (desktop for ease of use) then shut down JF. Now go to device manager and uninstal the via driver. Now go to c:\windows\system32\drivers and delete vsmraid.sys. Now to stop it re-installing itself after a pc restart navigate to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and delete the 2 folders called vsmraid.inf_5bb214f7, and vsmraid.inf_99e8d6e4. The numbers on the end seem to vary from machine to machine so don't be worried if yours are different. In vista to delete them you will need to "take ownership" of the folders in order to delete them. Google folder ownership to figure out how. Once deleted, restart the pc, and once its booted in device manager the via card should show with the yellow question mark thingo meaning it has no driver which it good. Now run jungle flasher again, put the drive in mode-b again, go to the firm tool 32 tab and in the target load the hacked fw you saved to your desktop earlier. Now go to the Hitatchi tab and this time select the USE PORT IO method! That's the crucial part. With the driver un-installed use the portIO method and then flash the hacked fw on as normal. Will work perfect. Thats how to do it successfully on a VISTA machine! Not in great detail but if you know what your doing it will be piss...

Vista is a far superior OS. We are on the verge of Windows 7 launching and then you will be 2 behind haha. It's really not that hard, takes about 3 or 4 extra mins....

I've got a dual boot going with Windows XP Pro for flashing purposes only because I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate as my primary os. Now I have flashed many 360's with Vista 32 without any problems, I've also tried to flash a couple of 360's with Windows 7 beta which also has worked great for me.
