I know it's a vague and border line stupid question but I'm down right confused.

I just got a sata card for my PC and I have flashed maybe 5 drives now only consisting of Samsungs and BenQ's using Jungle Flasher 1.51 and the latest iXtreme cfw. Now I had two xboxes brought to me BOTH of which are Lite-Ons. I tried really hard to follow the user guide (.pdf) and I found another guide which shows how to make your own extractor.

I have soldering and electronics experience, pretty good computer knowledge (going for my A+ and N+), and I'm very comfortable with and have successfully flashed five 360's with no hitches. Nothing to brag about I'm just clearing up that I can handle it if I can just get specific and up-to-date methods... these lite-ons are making my eyeballs spin.

Is there a best or simplest method to do this? Do I need an Xtractor or CK3? The guide is a bit confusing in being specific as to whether it's talking about a flashed or stock drive when it comes to explaining how to get the key...

I tried searching the forums and Google gets me old tutorials that say it can't be hacked or how to extract the key then put it on a new benq drive...

Any help would be really nice!

Thanks...

If you have a stock Lite-On drive then you need to extract the information from the Lite-On using either Xtractor/Spear, CK3/Pen or Home Made extractor.

If you have iXtreme 1.5 flashed to the drive then you do not need an extractor. You can extract the information via s-ata (you also need the newest JungleFlasher v0.1.51 Beta version).

The hardest part with a stock Lite-On is getting the serial information from it. Once you get those files everything else is pretty much the same as any other drive when it comes to flashing it.

Getting the serial information is easy with Xtractor/Spear or CK3/Pen. But you can also make your own extractor to extract the serial information from the Lite-ON (this method is a little more work and soldering is used).

When you extract the information you will end up having key.bin/identity.bin/Inquiry.bin/dummy.bin files.

All you do after extracting the information is load the dummy.bin file as Source and the iXtreme 1.51 file as Target firmware and spoof source to target. Then go to the MTK Flash 32 tab and select Lite-ON erase and then Write.

HERE is the newest Jungle Flasher tutorial on how to flash the drives including Lite-On.

I don't have a serial port on my computer :(

Isn't there a USB method?

Which one of these do you recommend?

I would recommend the Xtractor which you can find HERE. You can also add the spear in the drop down menu.

This is what I got and both Xtractor + Spear is around $45.

As well I always get my stuff from Modchip Central and have never had any issues with them.

I hate double posting but I don't think I can edit messages yet..?

Anyway, how long did it take to get?

I'm in Southern California and I see it's coming from Canada via USA Express..

It usually takes me a week or less to get it and I am in the US as well. But there is always a chance it could be held up in customs and take longer.

Unfortunately I don't know of any USA online store that will offer the Xtractor due to the DMCA laws in the USA.

Unfortunatly thats all the information you will get. It doesn't track once it enters the USA. But it shouldn't be to much longer.

Funny thing, it was in the mail RIGHT after I posted that! lol I thought it was sitting in a warehouse or truck somewhere because of the status but tracking it is completely pointless if it comes to the states. Anyway, it took 5 days from day of shipment.

Thank you very much again for the suggestion of this product!

I'm running into issues now. The green LED on the spear will NOT light up!

I looked up the Xtractors manual to figure out how to properly connect the spear. I checked, double checked and triple checked to make sure the red wire is on the right side on both he xtractor and the spear.

I then connected the power cable from the xtractor to the lite on drive which has been removed from the console and has the panel off to reveal R707. I connected my SATA cable to the drive from my motherboard (my sata chipset has successfully flashed every type of drive).

So my connections look like this where each "->" is a cable:

PC mobo->Power to the xtractor->power to the lite on
PC VIA Sata card->Sata port on lite on
Xtractor->Spear

I tried two different methods, one as per the jungle flasher tutorial, one as per the xtractor manual. One says to power on and eject the drive then power off and close drive half way. JungleFlasher tutorial says to have drive closed, manually eject while off, pull all the way out then half way in...

Upon trying both methods, I open jungle flasher and go under DVDKey32 and see my port is selected with PLDS and all the matching lite-on information is detected. I check "dummy.bin only" and hold the spear onto R707 to get a blue light.

I click the button to dump but I get a message "Serial data is bad."

Every single time!!

Should I use Dos Flash 1.7 or perhaps Xtractor reader?

Should I use the USB port on the xtractor?

Any help would be VERY much appreciated...

Make sure you have installed the USB drivers for the Xtractor and PortIO32.

Before you connect anything make sure the PC is off.

Connect the 360 drive power cable between Xtractor and DVD drive. Connect sata cable between 360 drive and PC. Connect USB between Xtractor and PC.

Now make sure the Xtractor is on and boot your PC. Now start Jungle Flasher and go to DVDKey32 tab. Select COM3 or whatever COM that the extractor has been installed to (if you don't know what COM the Spear is connected to go to Device Manager and look under the COM settings). Now eject the Lite-on drive. When the tray opens turn off the Xtractor and push the drive tray in half way. After you push it in half way turn the Xtractor back on.

Now put the spear at R707 till the light turns blue. When the led is blue on the spear keep it there and select get key. This should then read the keys letting you save each of them as a bin file then it will create a dummy.bin file.

Ok so stupid question, I'm absolutely supposed to be using USB right?

THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I know it was dumb to not do that originally but the tutorials aren't exactly specific on the USB cable.

But nonetheless THANK YOU!!

Well... More problems.

I dumped the key, spoofed it to a BenQ and it worked with the motherboard from the lite on, so the key is good. So I assume I'm safe with all of that.

However.

Upon the Lite-On erase I was prompted to shut off the drive, then back on. My computer crashed and now Lite On will not show up (it says "No Drive Detected!")....

Did I just brick this damn drive?

Boot the PC and then start Jungle Flasher.

Make sure you go to firmware tool 32 and re-add your dummy.bin file and iXtreme 1.51 (spoofing your info to the iXtreme firmware).

Then go MTK flash 32 and make sure you select the I/O Port that the 360 is on (even if it says no drive) try erasing the drive (Lite-On Erase) again. When it ask to turn off and on don't do it. See if it will erase without turning off the drive and then on.

If it erases then try writing the firmware.

What version of Jungle Flasher are you using?

I just switched to the latest 1.55 but haven't used it yet. I'll give it a shot.

At this point since I have dumped the key is it ok to just use the 360 to power the drive?

I'll post results in a bit

Opened jungle flasher, spoofed the dummy.bin with ixtreme 1.51, then I hit lite on erase from mtk flash.

It seems like it goes into vendor mode but when I hit write it says "Invalid status"

I tried using the 360 to power the drive, then the xtractor, then I tried using the manual eject to put it in vendor mode with the tray/eject status, nothing.

Terribly sorry for the triple post but I finally have closure. I went into DosFlash which successfully Lite-On erased and wrote the spoofed iXtreme1.51 firmware with the dummy.bin key!

The only reason that brought up this method was from a previous post I needed help with that I asked for on this forum.

I've been to 360mods and Xbox-scene as well and all I can say is that AfterDawn has been the absolute most helpful site on the net!!

Thank you so much for your help guys, I'll be sure to pay it forward!
