Short version - I would like to be able to combine video clips from movies (remove native audio) and put it together with an audio track.
Long version - I can rip, convert and edit video from dvds with some proficiency (I mostly am using freeware). As for combining clips with new audio, I'd need some serious direction. I've tried looking for guides and have found here at AfterDawn some guides for parts of the process, but can't seem to piece it together into a coherent process from start to finish. If anyone cares enough to advise me, I'm looking to create a product that is like what you can find on Youtube, if you look up work from "groovychris".
Load the desired audio and select the length required;Export the selection to .wav format.
Reopen Avidemux and on the top 'Audio' menu, load the external .wav file.
Decide how you want to save the new video (one way, click on 'Auto' and select the 'FLV' preset).
Note that the menu on the left side of the window changes to reflect the new settings.
The menu on the left can be used to output different video formats - The video filters can be used to resize and crop.
Also the audio can be recompressed to different formats.
The lowest menu choice gives different container options (AVI, PS, etc).
Last, click on the 'Save' logo and give the new file a name (including the extension, e.g. clips.flv).
Thank you, for your advice. It may take me a little to try it out...I'll have to install software (I'm on a new computer). I hope to get back to you on my success or failure before too long.
If you will import clips from multiple sources, other than just DVD(like other downloaded AVIs, mp4...videos), then you will need a different editor, like WMV , NeroVision and the likes, that can import/append different formats.
Somehow, with all the evidence I see of this kind of product on Youtube, I feel I must be climbing up the back side of a mountain that has a road up the front. I managed to use DVD Decrypter to copy DVD video without the audio streams. I converted the VOB to MPEG and tried to use MovieMaker to make clips and combine with a song background. The MovieMaker froze up on me when I tried make it "a movie".
I find myself wondering if my my machine is not up to it.
Well, I'm getting somewhere slowly. I'll try working with some of the other suggestions here.
