What's wrong is you've got the RRoD! You may have had a fix done for it (i.e. X-Clamp Fix), but they aren't guaranteed to work forever. We did an X-Clamp for a buddy, and his did the same thing! Best bet now is to either try and send it back to M$, or to buy a new system!

from reading your post it sounds like you had someone else do this for you. and it was done prior to a red ring to prevent it?? apparently whatever they did actually caused the red ring not prevented it!

find out exactly what they did. as in did they do xclamp and if so did they use thermal paste and clean the old stuff off completely before adding new paste.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

well smack my a$$ and call me Susan..... I think we have seen this one over 1000 times now, Susan.

You must find out your error codes which will point you in the direction of the failure, then your best bet is to REFLOW the suspected components.

Ah yes... as the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, then pay someone to break it for you." Or something like that, right?

It sounds like that's exactly what you did.

Well, you could either buy yourself a rework station (this is the one I use) so you can reflow it, or have someone reflow it for you.
