I not saying that but it will take them a lot longer than you think they will need to get more cards for a start and all the older boxes will have to be replaced like the small pace boxes which they have not been doing so that is all im saying its not a simple task like the sat scene
And of course you could also be right in what you say but if people even get 3 or 4 months out of the boxes at the prices the providers charge they are well getting value out of it anything after that is a bonus

fergus thank you for your plain talking and your information the negativity around here would bring you down get the krypt view box and in 8 weeks its paid for itself and in the mean time if af fix for the other boxes comes in its gravy we,ve all done well outa them boxes anyway spoiled rotten we were!!! stop putting a downer on everything and move on

Stop arguing lads
U*P can fix kryptview easy and will do.As I write this reply someone in nag is stripping the kryptview bin update to pieces its gonna be cat and mouse from now on.As Ive said before I Know someone big in n*l that previously told me about the new nag3 cards and told me last week nag3 cards for d4a and dvr were are packed ready to be sent out but does not know why they havent been.

i do wish them luck with the stripping PMSL hearing that one
prob because everyone dont own a dvr and 90% of people have the old pace boxes so that will be another thing trying to change all them as well
And why send out N2 cards to then send out N3 cards dont make any sense to me to do that

Guys I have a question. I am one of the 90% of people referred to earlier who have no idea how these things work and will always bow to your superior knowledge.
All this talk of cards over the last several pages is confusing me., I have a few Nok£a Dbox2 in the house which are been affected in the same way as everyone else. I have no cards in any of them. I simply have a standard N&L cable Subscription. In the past I flashed an image or updated service and bouquet files or did whatever the best available advice at the time was to solve the problem of new keys etc.
Can someone explain to me exactly what is the story with the cards. Will I need one in the future. Is there a possible solution through someone creating a new image or are the dbox's dead when N3 comes in its full glory.
In advance thanks for your response to what some of you may think is a very naive post.

All the old boxes execpt the 4001 4010 work completly fine with the brand new rom142 nag3 card.All those black pace 4001 and 4010 boxes have already been changed to d4a,DVR or dinkys and it was done last year so ferg stop putting up mad posts until you actually know what your talking about.There will be no more swapping out boxes ITS ALREADY DONE all other existing boxes where updated in stream and are WORKING RIGHT NOW ON NAG3.

so why go N2 and not N3 . I remember those post few weeks back N2 will is not hacked and will take months if not years lol. That was proved wrong. As long as there are hackers work will carry on. Tbh the N2 hack must have made UPC look foolish. I suppose I have my opinions and others have theres. Ita all healtly I say.

i think the boxes you are referring to is not the small pace boxes they use in Ireland the ones i am referring to are the DC221KN units the 4000 and the 4001 are Uk units if im not wrong
so unless they change all these small units to the new dvr models i think we will be safe
its like the magic roundabout on here will it work no it wont yes it will
well all im saying on this now is lets wait and see what happens the stable door is still open as far as im concerned
and im finished talking on this its run its course as far as im concerned its up to people to take what they want from it

Fergusrb the small dc221kn box is running on nagra3 this second the other 2 boxes 4001 4010 where changed here last year.The reason they where changed was because they where 10 years old and causing problems.If you have a dc221kn with old n*l type card and are sub to sky movies or sports your new card is on the way thats fact.That dc221kn is running on premier on nag3 since september07.

You mean Kryptview have ripped the nagra to bits. It does not take lot to stop it but will they they did not do much on N1 when they could have done plenty to stop the hack.

Once Nag 1 was hacked it was doomed - Nag 2 is different, it may be compromised but it could leave people without tv for weeks sometimes months with a change.
MASSIVE DIFFERENCE.

I would say not. N2 looks fully hacked as well why else would the european providers go to N3. Anyway only time will tell so we will all have to wait.

The european providers went nag3 cos nag2 was fooked completley fooked.They didnt want it ending up like nag1 with top quality blocker images that where better than there own.

To answer some of your questions about the new cards UP* have sent out these cards were (are) ROM142REVG02 (Nagra3) for all subs there were no N2 cards posted out this would be pointless . The only boxes that have ROM110REVA07(Nagra2,Previously REVA05) Are the new media boxes and PVR boxes (Pre Feb09 the new boxes that are issued contain ROM142REVG02 cards) , Over the next few mths the boxes containing the ROM110REVA07 cards will be swapped out with the new ROM142REVG02(Nagra3)cards, after that the same process will happen with channels dropping during the change over process
The only reason they are still on N2 stream and not N3 is UP* were only broadcasting on 2 streams up till late oct last year in order to prevent there high value PVR and media boxes from been hacked.

No you dont need a card for your DBox, the talk about cards is official cards sent out by upc
heres whats happening now
NTL (upc)are broadcasting 3 streams
N1 - Channels are currently being switched off(ie. setanta)this is the stream your dbox is using
N2 - Just been hacked but is only a temporary stream, for how long no one knows(Only hacked on Kryptview currently, more boxes soon hopefully)
N3 - Not hacked and no one can give you an answer if it will ever be hacked!
