CathalDub - Many thanks. So if there is a hack at some point it could still work on the Dbox's so there is no point in scrapping them when it does roll out in the next while.

I'll give you a DEFINITIVE answer to N3 issue.

it makes no difference when NTHell make the change, for now most boxes still have MOST channels.
Sit back, chill out, watch what you still can. go to the pub if you cant see it on your box, and wait till the lads with the big brains sort it for us ( I'm speaking as one of the 90% that has no clue how to crack codes etc but wished I could ! )
save yourself the hassle of all the rumour spreading and scaremongering and wait till those who REALLY know whats happening, post the solutions here !
Now, rant over, I'm going back to watching what I can on my illegal box to wait till the storm passes over !!!!!!
people seem to think they are entitled to a solution to these problems here FFS

First of all thanks for all the info. I was playing around with the box for a while before I discovered this thread explaining why some of the channels were disappearing.
I have two nokia dbox2s and love them. Obviously the fact that I am getting subscription tv at a discounted rate is great. I understand that I am effectively stealing but I paid premium rates to N*L for years and I always felt they were robbing me. The Nagra3 changeover is a worrying development, but I have full confidence that some 15 year old sitting in his basement beavering away until 3am every night will eventually crack it. When the majority of channels are switched over to N3, I will return to paying premium rates until it is cracked but my main problem is that I will miss the extra features I use on the dbox.
I have a network running around my house which I have various devices/pcs plugged into. I can stream video directly from a media PC onto the boxes and I can record straight from the box to the PC, very handy. I also have the http port on my broadband mapped to one of the boxes, therefore I can control the box, set recordings/timers etc from any browser (even my phone).
So what I am wondering is will I be able to use the dboxes in a legit way? Can it handle Nagra3 if I have the new card in the box and a valid subscription?

Im a bit confused, have i got this right, the kryptview boxes are now working again with their new fix, so ntl are using N2 now, not N3, but will be switching to N3 fully soon?
If you have a linux based box and there seems to be no fix in sight, would it be worth while getting a kryptview?

Kryptview have been good with there support so far so you cannot knock the box. Yes its the only box working in areas where channels have gone. Most people are waiting for a fix to come out for the other boxes so its up to you if you want to wait or buy a kryptview.

The kryptview box is only a temporary fix till the N2 cards for the thomson pvr boxes and the upc mediaboxes are exchanged.
I you are lucky the kryptview box give you 2 or 3 months more.

There using both, N2 & N3 Simulcrypting, but when they turn off the N2 leaving just N3, then even the kryptview will be stuck.
Until N3 is cracked.

true but who said n2 would not be crackable if that was so will the rest
only takes time thats all who also said the linux boxes would be only left mmm i wonder
and the cable box is working and linux are still trailing behind looking for a fix what does that tell you
if it can be made it can be copied or hacked just like n2 was

As stated before, if you buy a Kryptview now , it will have paid for itself if n*l take a few months to turn off N2... imagine the money saved on beers alone in your local....

kryptview is supported by a UK team, thats why they have a fix.
Dbox and dreambox are German, they rely on people to volunteer to create fixes. Have no involvement in uk & IRL cable scene.
Starview, Eurovox ect are all Asian, and with no UK support team also rely on people to volunteer fixes.

Yes they get there fixes from the uk, but not from a team, all the last fixes were by sunrise.
He dosnt work for them.
The point i am making is kryptview have a Uk team, and thats why they will have fixes 1st.

ya this is the guy in cork that keeps asking when are we going to be affected down here condidering that you didnt reply directly to me keep your coments to yourself,,no one is asking you to reply to me,and seeing that you seem to be in the know how a courtious reply would have been sufficient,rather than your own comment with your FFS! and futher more we in cork would certainly like to know when we are going to be affected,this is why people post comments on this site to help each other out,obiously you seem to think otherwise.you appear quite aggressive maybe you should stop watching tv and go for a walk for yourself....

it will be a while before the chorus network will be hit i would say as they are working on the ntl one at the present time so i would say maybe 6mts at a push then they will prob start there
by that time if they have rolled out n3 in dublin im sure the guys are only itching to strip it to pieces like they did with the n2 so lets wait and see
