This used to work but now says invalid program (I think). Is there a version that works on 3.4? What do I need to do to get this to work again? I am not talking about the homebrew channel but the homebrew browser, just so you know.

This should work on 3.4.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_apps/Homebrew_Browser.

download the file and follow the guide below:

Copy the homebrew_browser folder to the /apps folder on your SD card. Ensure that the little write lock switch on your SD card is off. Launch via the Homebrew Channel.
