It's been months since I've played my wii and this game mad world had a good review on x-play. My friend burnt a copy for me but I could not get it to play then I read that I need something called Ios 38, 53, 55 and gamma and there's a green screen I'm so freaking lost WHY CAN'T THINGS BE SIMPLE AGAIN. what steps do I need to take for this to play.
I have a USA wii 3.4u With wiikey V1. 1.9s

You're over complicating it.

'Gamma' is the most recent version of the wiigator backup loader, a homebrew program that lets you play backup games.

IOS's are firmware patches. Games have always used them but now we are seeing people rip them from games and install them separately to avoid updating the firmware version of the wii.

Your friend obviously brickblocked the game he gave you and removed the patches. If you have the homebrew channel and wad installer you can google those IOS patches and install them with the wad manager.

Or since you have a modchip though you can get a non-brickblocked copy of the game and let it update as normally.

Usually the green screen is a region issue.

Is the game a PAL backup version? If so use Gecko OS and force NTSC.

So all I need to do is find a non brickblocker version put it in my wii and let it update and that's it... If that's the case then I don't need the ISO's or Gamma Right.

spawn1980 listen up, here's the deal simple as I can explain.

You don't really need to worry about ios's and gamma loader etc. because all those things really affect only people that are using soft mods or channel loaders.

You have a mod chip. Ios's are just wii operating system updates and menu system updates etc. Since you have a wiikey, you don't have to worry about the gamma loader and ios updates (unless you read somewhere that a certain game will not work without an update that happens to break the ability for your wiikey to play burned games which hasn't really happened yet)

So in a nutshell, your game (Mad World) requires an update to the wii operating system. In a normal unmodded wii the game from the store would include that update on the disc and the wii would prompt you to update before you play. The burned copy that you have has had that update removed and people with softmodded wii's need to download the update manually and apply it using the homebrew channel (which you have to install using the Zelda exploit, even on a wii modded with a wiikey). Since you have a wiikey, you only need to apply the update either by using a factory made disc or apply the OS update (IOS) manually using the homebrew channel (which you'll have to install first)

Thats a long answer to simple problem. Let me outline your options (either will work):

1. Rent a copy of Mad World and apply the update found on the disc. After that, your burned copy that your friend gave you will work.

2. Get a copy of Zelda (a rented version or burned version will work since you have a wiikey) and use the guides found in the stickies to install the homebrew channel. You can then use the homebrew channel to manually apply the OS updates that you need to run the game.

Personally, I have a wiikey but I also have the homebrew channel installed so that I can run all the cool wii homebrew thats available. I also can use the homebrew channel to install wiiware that you normally have to get through the wii shop channel but with the homebrew channel you can install those manually also.
