0800 Dumping

I tried the search and googling for the answer.
However, there has been mention of 0800 dumping with the new FW (1.6) for all drives.
Does this mean you can create backups of games with a spare dvd drive with your PC? no need for Kreon firmware? which is more safer or better quality in terms of back up?

Yes 0800 can be used on spare Xbox drives (I think Samsung and BenQ can only be flashed with 0800 at this time) to connect to PC and rip the games.
I had an extra BenQ laying around so I flashed the 0800 firmware to it and use Xbox Backup Creator to rip the games.
1.6 isn't out yet but I think the new firmware will have both iXtreme and 0800 together.
Where now you can only have iXtreme flashed to the drive or have 0800 flashed to it. Both can not be flashed to the drive at the same time.

so this 0800 doesnt refer to just loading the game to your 360's hdd and playing from hdd, its a workaround for not using Kreon firmware?

0800 firmware allows the drive to be seen by Windows. You can flash your drive with the 0800 firwmare (BenQ and Samsung), and use it to copy 360 games. I've read it is better to use as the drive with 0800 because it will give TRUE responses, as the drives with Kreon give STORED responses.

Spoof source to target then write it to the drive.

Once you flash the Xbox 360 dvd drive with the 0800 firwmare, how do you hook it up to the computer? Do you have to physically remove it from the Xbox 360 console?
And once Windows can see the drive, then you run XBC on your computer to make the copy of the dvd in the Xbox 360 dvd drive?

Dealing with 0800 firmware, you don't need your key in the firmware.

Can I use an external USB enclosure to house my 0800 firmware flashed XBox dvd drive to hook up to my laptop via USB and then use XBC to rip? Thanks.
