Thanks leerage.. bro I read somewhere that the 1.6 is coming out by the end of the week.. since I am still waiting for my HDD which will hopefully come tomorrow so I can flash my BENQ after installing windows xp ..

Do you think it may be worth waiting for the 1.6? I mean what exactly is this 0800 dump.. sorry but I am really not understanding it?

As of right now, there is a couple of different firmware types you can flash to your drive, to allow you to different things with the drive. Stealth firmware, non-stealth firmware, and 0800 firmware. 0800 and non-stealth are not to be used on Live.

You can flash the 0800 firmware (BenQ and Samsung) to your drive and it allows Windows to recognize it, and at that point you can rip 360 games with your drive. You would then have to flash iXtreme back to the drive so you could play on Live.

What iXtreme 1.6 does is allow you to have the Stealth security and 0800 capability, all in one firmware. It will save you time having to flash your drive back and forth.

As of right now, ix1.6 is said to only have the 0800 upgrade, and no new security features. So basically it depends on your needs. If you have only 1 drive and need to make copies but yet still play on live, ix1.6 is for you. If you are like me and have a spare BenQ drive with 0800, ix1.6 will not be that enticing.

So to sum it up... In the Security aspect, ix1.51 and ix1.6 will be the same (subject to change). ix1.6 will allow Stealth security along with 0800 capability.

0800 is a feature that allows you to rip games with an xbox360 dvd drive. You heard of the Kreon drives, right? Well 0800 firmware is very much the same for xbox360 dvd drive. So if you have a spare xbox drive you can use it to rip games like the kreon. 0800 actually exists now for sammy's and benq's. 1.6 is said to have 0800 firmware for all drives.

Leerage and bd911 thank you so much in going to detail.. I understand now.. thanks.. however what I still do not understand is why you would want to rip a game when you already download it to play it anyway? I mean just save the iso on your computer as a backup? or do you actually mean you can rip it on the xbox 360 hdd to play without the disc? this is the part I don't get..? Please if you can explain.. thanks :)

Ripping a game is a lot quicker than downloading it. Plus downloading games end result is piracy. I guess if you are downloading a game you already own a copy of... but nobody does that do they? lol

ISP's watch for copy-righted material that gets downloaded so I believe that is why people prefer to rip games via a 0800 drive rather than download.

I make back-ups for the sole purpose of keeping the integrity of the original. Nothing like wasting 60$ on a game when the 360 can eat it or the game gets scratched from time to time.

I use XBOX Backup Creator, ImgBurn, and ABGX v1.0 to stealth patch.

lol... I see where you are coming from... But I do it to make sure there isn't a HIGH deviation with the SS, bad CRC check, or any kind of data corruption.

I use to XBC to copy and burn. ImgBurn for 3rd wave isos. And ABGX for.. yes, the integrity.

Leerage,

just another quick one please mate.. when the 1.6 does come out and I flash and the drive is compatible with 0800 ripping .. how do I actually rip it to my pc? I mean how do I connect the xbox to the pc ? Do I need to open the 360 and access the DVD Drive again or can it be done via ethernet etc?

Ok just to clarify things for my simple mind. If I want to play stealthed games on Xbox Live and have no intention of copying games and using 0800, I will be fine just using 1.51 and passing on 1.6?

I think I saw a post the other day that said 1.6 is supposed to have some fixes as well. So it could be an update for both iXtreme security and 0800 support.

You will more then likely need to wait till it comes out before knowing 100% what all the update will actually do.

How does this work?

I successfully modded my LiteOn with 1.51 iXtreme and it plays all back ups games. I can still connect to live but I have yet to play a burned game on live. I guess it doesn't matter if I play burned games whilke not connected to live? I've connected to live after I play a burned game to see if I will get banned and it still connects.

None of the games are stealth patched but I want to go online and play Call of Duty World At War with a few friends, do I have to stealth patch the game or does the firmware do everything for me? I don't mind paying for the games I want to play online if it means I won't get banned. I just wanted to play a few RPGs that I cannot find in stores so that is why I modded my console to play back up copies of them.

You will need to stealth patch the game. Even when patched, there is about a 5% chance of getting caught. If you play an unpatched game you are asking for a ban hammer to smash your 360.

As for iXtreme 1.6 I see no reason to wait for it. It is just adding PC support, no bug fixes that I have heard of. iXtreme 1.5 was great, 1.51 added Wave 3 support and a couple of fixes. I would go on and flash it with 1.51

It really doesn't matter if you play a burned game whilst not connected to live or whilst connected to live, you can get banned either way.

If the games weren't stealth iXtreme 1.51 wouldn't boot them up.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

ive just reflashed my drive i was using xtreme firmware from a year or so ago and the games ive backed were from original discs and were not patched or stealth patched.
i restored my orginal firmware to the xbox 360 and then reflashed with the ixtreme firmware, by mistake ive reflashed the xbox 360 with ixtreme 1.5 and not ixtreme 1.51 after the flashing i tested the xbox with one of the games that were backed up from original disc with no patches etc installed and i found that the backup worked fine.
is this right that you can play straight backups of an original xbox 360 disc with out patching /stealth patch? i understand that those backups could not be used on live but i thought they would not have worked in the first place.
i use xbox backup creator to backup the games at the moment.

If you did the backups yourself from an original disc, they should be stealth as XBC does the stealthpatch. I started using AGBX just recently, most of my games weren't checked.

You can check the disks without ripping them.
