Hey Guys,

honestly this has been something that I have been wondering for ages and this forum is so great I am sure someone will know the answer :)

Xbox 360 media centre will not play divx or .x264 hd codecs etc.. whats the deal with this? whats the point of the media centre if you can't stream the movies..

does anyone have any solutions .. or is there a thing where you can install codecs on the xbox . or something like that? thanks ...

haha yeah thats what i thought. um.. you might need to change the formats of the videos or there should be an optional update that will allow you to play them.

yes, it just updates your xbox to allow it to play different formats such as .m4u or .mp4 other than the common formats as .mpg or .3pg

Just get Tversity. it will stream to the xbox and convert on the fly so xbox can then play any format video. You can also set it up to stream youtube and such other videos off the net.

no can't use media center with it. It is a good media streaming program that will convert files to play on xbox as the xbox receives it. files and folders you put in this program will show in video library on xbox.

yes that is good enough lol

Use TVersity.

HERE is a nice guide on how to install it.

As well if you stream an Xvid file to the 360 the 360 should tell you that you need to download an update to play the video. Just follow the directions on how to get the update and you should be good to go with Xvid files (No need to transcode them).

But for most other formats you will need TVersity to transcode them.
