Hitachi 0079fl help PLEASE!

i have a via 6421 add-on card i used to flash 8 different lite-on drives everything worked great. I use a CK3 for power and vista x86 by the way. now I am trying to flash a 0079fl. when i try to use slax it will not pick up my drive(spinning up disk does not appear), so i use the mode_b 1cd0 command (1cd0 is my sata port number) . run the command see the dots going across, turn on my drive via ck3 and it says done. afterwards my drive appears in windows with a drive letter of E: and it takes 2 presses to eject and 2 to close. From what I have read my next step is to eject the drive and insert the audio unlock cd. this is my problem. the auto play box does not pop-up and I can not read anything in windows from the drive. jungle flasher locks up my computer everytime i try and use it so that is not an option. the ck3 tool picks up my drive and the mode b option works along with the 79unlock program, but still can't play the audio cd.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!

i skimmed through this post, but i am having the ops first issue too. when i booted up slax it did not say spinning up disk, i ended up having to turn on the xbox about 6-7 seconds AFTER i turned on the pc. then it worked.

i will try that. i got the hitachi in mode-b with the mode_B program my problem is getting the audio disc to play in my drive after it's in mode-b

well last night i formatted and setup my pc with xp pro and portio. Now i got slax to say spinning up disk once but them it froze my pc. after that i tried jungle flasher and i can find the drive on the port info and change to mode b but i am having trouble getting the drive to show up wit a drive letter. the one time i got it to show up i put in the audio unlock cd during the same time jungle flasher was trying to play it, so i think i may have locked it up. I have been "playing" with it since and I got the drive to show up for a second but thats it. any ideas? and do you have messenger or aol, and would you be willing to try and help me figure this out?

I have a hell of a time with 79FL's too. I use the same, VIA 6421 sata card. I don't even use Slax though. Since you're using the ck3 kit, power on the drive when you get into windows but before you open jungle flasher.Once JF is open and you can see your drive, port, ect... turn off the hitachi.Then hit the modeB button on JF and turn the Hitachi back on. It'll be in modeB
Now to get it to show you a drive letter, you must have the WINAPI/PORTIO set to WINAPI.
If still no drive letter, right click on My computer, go to the device manager, highlight the CD/DVD rom drives (+) and right click and select "scan for new devices" It'll then find the Hitachi and assign it a drive letter.
Try then to do the unlock 79 with the audio cd. Most of the times I have to switch between manual and automatic before it finally reads the SOB cause Hitachi's are notorious for POS lasers. If it unlocks correctly, it'll eject the audio cd. Proceed to then dump/flash your FW.

i did everything you said but the 79 unlock cd will not play also can not re-open jungle flasher. nothing freezes and i can see the process for jungle flasher but it will not open any ideas

Do you get dirty disc errors from time to time? If so, you need to replace the laser. That might be why the 79fl can't read the audio cd.
Plus, make sure you have the Microsoft .net framework installed. I think the latest version is 3.5
And jungle flasher shouldn't be locking up completely unless you're using an older version.
Will jungle flasher work when you don't have the 79 connected?

I have a 79 and I couldnt figure out Jungle Flasher so I used Firmware toolbox.....I reflashed my drive back to original.bin then copy your keys.....select the 1.51 firmware for your drive. ( I used ix151-79-4e10 its the 79 12x) Then replace the key with yours that you copied. Then go to Tools...Then Direct Drive Flash...Differential Flash (Patch) Then read and detect differences...May ask if you want to keep key on drive click yes...Then Flash it.....Thats what I done...Hope I helped you some...
Just use Slax 2.1 to get into B- Mode Then 79 Unlock CD The Command Prompt 79Unlock then put DVD or XBOX 360 game in dvd drive then do the above steps...Go by Podgers Tutorial Here it is...I had mine flashed in a few mins

slax will not work for my drive and i know all those steps they just dont work for me everything but the audio cd step works fine in jungle flasher just cant play the audio cd
