a post explaining how to use homebrew read "The 3.3 folder is for users with 3.3 or below firmware. The 3.4 folder is for users that have 3.4 firmware." do I need to update firmware to my brand new wii??? or how do I know what version is on there now (if any)????

You can just go into the Wii Settings, and in the top right of the screen it will say what firmware is installed. If you Wii is brand new, then it's got the 3.4. I just got a new one last week and it had 3.4, and got the homebrew working just fine!

Unless if you are from Korea it's 3.5 , nobody posted yet if homebrew will work or still work.
