I installed a new hard drive to replace my old one. The optorite burner will play a dvd but wont burn successfully. System Will copy dvd but when it is time to put in target dvd it says there is an error and system will have to shut down. Old messages on this forum poit to optorite.com for a fix but there is no site at that URL. Please help, this is frustrating. Hope this is a simple fix.

Hi rkpine
Welcome to the forum
Check the Accesstek site at www.accesstek.com or I/O Magic at www.iomagic.com. They have the same burner under a different label. I own a I/O Magic IDVDRW4D better know as a DD0203. Nice but a tad picky.
Check that the DMA is turned on for the drive and the ASPI layer is up to date.
Lets see if we can help you - keep in touch

Thank you for responding.
As you suggested I updated the aspi. It is still not working. How do I enable or check to see if the DMA is enabled?

thank you

Hi rkpine
The DD0203 likes to be Master not Slave
To check DMA status in XP
At the Start Menu select
1. Control Panel
then select
2. System
then select
3. Hardware Tab
then select
4. Device Manager
then select
5. IDE Controllers
Expand and select
6. Secondary IDE Channel
Right click and select
7. Properties
Select
8. Advance Settings Tab
9. Check transfer mode - should be DMA if available
change as needed
While you are there check the Primary Channel too.

I hope this helps

Well, I tried that, but it didn't work. when i tried to copy a dvd it read the disk then after it created an image file it gave the same error message that the program needs to shut down.
Do you have any other suggestions? I am going to try it with the cd-burner out of the system, since the dvd burner allegidly can do that too.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Hi rkpine
Sorry this reply has taken so long. I had the kids today. Now the work begins. I need some more information. Your computer stats. The software you run. I think we have a conflict somewhere.
Let me know. I will be away on a trip for a couple of days. I will follow up when I return
Thanks
