hello everyone
i've recently bought an xbox 360 and ive been surfing the net for information on how to flash and consequences of flashing the xbox. I've found many sites and videos explaining these. However, I'm still not quite sure as to what would happen if I was to play xbox backup/cloned games on xbox live. a lot say there is a high chacne of getting banned. and some say if u play originals on a flashed xbox u wont get banned.
so my first question is, can u get banned if u play originals on flashed xbox.
and my second question is, say u get banned, the gamertag is on the harddrive, right?. so what if you just bought another harddrive.
and my final question, are there any other ways of avoiding getting banned for xboxlive, apart from the obvious dont flash the xbox or play cloned games.
cheers in advanced and happy gaming.
LL

(so my first question is, can u get banned if u play originals on flashed xbox. )
No one knows for sure how microsoft detects the moded 360 so no one can honestly answer that and be for sure. My opinion I don't think they always can tell, Because I had one for 2 years only plugged in the ethernet cable in I was using a original game. And never got banned until I forgot and put in a backup with the ethernet plugged in.
(and my second question is, say u get banned, the gamertag is on the harddrive, right?. so what if you just bought another harddrive.
)
No. They ban the xbox not the gamertag.
(and my final question, are there any other ways of avoiding getting banned for xboxlive, apart from the obvious dont flash the xbox or play cloned games.)
Not really, besides don't play backups with ethernet plugged in. Or possibly playing before the games release date im not sure. That really goes back to your #1 question. As far as I know no one knows for sure all the ways they detect the moded firmware. And most people will tell you that you can be banned at any time with a moded firmware and I agree with them! Basically if its moded and you ever plug in the ethernet the possibility is there. Thats the way I look at it.
All this is my opinion im sure others will chime in with there opinions.

I guess the bigger question, which no one really knows the answer for again...Can games run even if they are not 100% identical? What i'm saying is for instance you "acquire" an image of a game. You extract it, stealth it, and burn it and are playing it on the newest stealth fw. Well is it possible that this copy you are playing is not 100% identical, it is simply enough to enjoy the game but there are miniscule differences on the disc from the original and that's what Microsoft is detecting? Or is Microsoft simply detecting the modded Hardware....The software or Hardware....which is Microsoft nailing people on...

cheers for the reply mate. One more question tho, if you get banned from xbox live, what way could you undo the banning. apart from buying a new one obviously. I've heard people using solder wires etc. Do you know of any methods in which you can bypass the ban on xbox live.
cheers again

From the knowledge i've gathered once the console is banned, your done. There's no undoing the ban, probably because no one even knows the banning process (outside of Microsoft employees). Apparently you can use other consoles and still retain your Gamer id but that banned console is relegated to single player usage only.

ok, im thinking twice about flashing the xbox now.
If I went to Xbox live without it being flashed, then after flashing it I went to Xbox Live would there be any problem. Cos doesnt the drive flashing change information of the drive, xbox could detect that change and then ban it.
Any ideas?

AFAIK, M$ cannot detect the drive, its the copies etc that they would detect. Short answer is that there are steps you can take to attempt to stop M$ from banning you but there are no guarantees.

Check the Ultimate Sticky, read the stealth games procedures, how to properly burn your games, and read the 2008 textbook. Not to be rude, but there's no reason to ask these very basic questions when they've been covered in stickied threads.
