Hi, Guys:

After some expense and considerable effort I have been successful in backing up DVDs. I have XCopy Xpress, but since I prefer to know what is happening during the process, I use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. DVD Decrypter usually takes 5 minutes; DVD Shrink,22 minutes; imaging and the burn takes 20+ minutes. I've had cases where the read rate was slow. I aborted, cleaned the disc and re-inserted it. The rate tripled.

Good news all around. My Sansui DVD player, to my TV, will play either +RW or -RW discs. That was my last concern. Once I learned that I was home free.

I use +RW discs to accommodate my NEC burner. The Pioneer DVR-106D will burner either format, but it is a "slow boat to China."

With my new Dell monitor and sound system, I have discovered that movies play with sharper resolution on my PC than on my Sylvania TV. I alternate watching movies on the PC and on the TV.

I bought System Mechanic 4.0. I has cleaned up my system. It acts like a 3 GHz processor now. Several operations are at push-button speed. Most operations occur within a few seconds after launching. I can access TV Guide Online now faster than a cup of coffee.(Have you tried TV Guide Online?)

Thanks to you all.

Cheers,

wlloyd
