I'm using the user guide for jungle flasher and I can't get it to read the drive. I have the ck3 connectivity kit and basically what happens is I follow the instructions and it appears to work. By that I mean it will unlock to status 0x73. Then when I hit read it returns:
getting status from port 0x8800
Invalid status

I try this multiple times and it doesnt work. What am I doing wrong?

Here is the log over a few attempts:

I have flashed before just not using jungleflasher. I have a VIA 6421 but I don't know what brand. I do know, however, that it works since I have used it multiple times for multiple 360's including liteon, benq, and samsung. I also have the disk tray half open when this is done. I forgot to mention that. It seems like what is happening is that it keeps going to status 0x51 when it is supposed to stay in 0x73. I don't know how to fix this though or even if this is really the problem. Also, here is a pic:

Try DosFlash 1.7 - The DosFlash32 folder.

I could do that, but I want to use jungle flasher. It's supposed to be easier and I don't like having to go into dos and switching stuff around. Surely someone knows why this is happening.

are you using 3rd party atapi drivers? some burning probrams replace your default atapi drivers and it could be confilicting. Run nero info tool and post here.

DosFlash32 from DosFlash 1.7 is GUI/Windows based and is just as easy as Jungle Flasher.

Or try Jungle Flasher 0.1.55 version.

The problem I found was due to reading in the wrong section. I was installing ixtreme 1.5+ so that is the section I was looking in. The section was really representing the version of the current drive. This makes sense since you haven't started the reading process before unlocking it. I was installing ix1.51 on a stock drive. So basically, I hit the benq unlock button and problem solved. This is opposed to the port method.

Being this the case, I thought everything was good until the very end. After writing, it said 'write verify failed.' Does anyone know why this new problem is happening? I retried again and same result.

i dont know, i used dosflash32, its super easy, yes to the first 2 questions, close it, then open it back up choose no, find my sata port from the drop down menu, and its ready to write and flash.

yes its really that simple with dosflash 32.

don't you already have to have the original f/w for that program? if so, how do you get it without going to dos?

As far as I know unlock drive will not work on a stock drive. unlock drive only works with iXtreme flashed drives.

If it was a stock drive you should have stuck with the half open drive trick.

Did you get the key backed up?

its called dosfalsh32 but its a GUI that works inside of windows. it will send both the unlock command and the magic command, no need or opening open drive trick or anything, just send the command and then close the program and open it back up and choose no, then choose your sata port so it looks like the screen below version 1.7 is the latest, but i use v1.6

Hmm..I'll have to try that. Using the half-open trick WILL NOT WORK on a stock drive or anything below 1.5. Thats what I had been trying to do and then when I realized you just hit the unlock button, it worked. This is also what it says in the user guide.

Question related to BenQ+Jungleflasher method, do I have to unplug my CD-ROM drive/extra HD leaving the HD with WinXP before flashing with Jungle Flasher?

You shouldn't have to uninstall any Hardware for JungleFlasher. Just make sure you select the proper I/O Port that your 360 drive is on (most of the time Jungle Flasher will auto detect it) Just make sure it is the proper drive.
