I have already flashed BenQ drive with iXtreme and had it playing backups. I now want to use the drive to rip originals. I downloaded benq0800 from xbins, and think I re-flashed the drive correctly with JungleFlasher, but I still can't get windows or XBC2.8 to recognize the drive. I read somewhere that the drive needs unlocked with DVDInfoPro, but it doesn't recognize the drive either. In JungleFlasher there is an activate.iso option, but I read several places that this is only needed on a Samsung drive. Am I missing a step or something?

I am using XBC 2.8.0.275, which I believe is the latest version. I just got the 0800 firmware from Xbins, so it should be the latest version, although I believe it is a few years old. No matter what version of software I have though, I think I should still be able to see the drive in Windows Explorer.

I am powering the drive with an Xtractor and I have the sata cable plugged into a VIA PCI card without any drivers installed. Tonight I think I will try reflashing the firmware and hooking the SATA cable up to my motherboard to see if that makes any difference.

I finally got it working. I installed the VIA Raid driver and now windows sees the drive. I'm not sure why but it works. So now I guess whenever I want to rip a game I have to flash the drive to 0800, install VIA driver, copy iso to hard drive, un-install via driver, then flash drive back to iXtreme firmware. Luckily I don't plan on doing this too often.

Sounds like iXtreme 1.6 will be the right option for you. With the stealth firmware and 0800 it will be nice not to flash back and forth. But like you, I had the same issue when trying to copy games with my VIA chipset. I had the viamraid.sys removed to flash and I could never get my BenQ 0800 to be recognized. Reinstalled the viamraid.sys and it is now detected. But recently I did install the 530c drivers and have yet to test the flash to make sure it doesn't freeze.
