The Pirate Bay unveils 'IPREDATOR Global Anonymity Service'

The founders of the giant public torrent tracker The Pirate Bay are set to roll out a new way to browse anonymously, using a virtual private network (VPN), and have begun giving out beta invites.
Would-be users can submit their email address to http://ipredator.se/ in hopes of receiving a beta invite before the service goes public in April.

maybe not specific traffic data, still any computer must know were connections are directed to thus a log may be generated.
it's simpler to say its not without its flaws.

If they are issued a subpoena by law enforcement, you better believe they will talk rather than go out of business.
Currently Swedish Law protects them for now and they have said anytime the Law looks like it is going to be changed they will simply move the servers to a country that will stop them being siezed.
The pirate bay isnt being run by idiots otherwise they wouldnt have lasted this long, and the fact that they are being tried in a swedish court atm (regardless of how strong the case is against them), people who fileshare will probably be much safer in their hands than most others!
At the end of the day if you want to be completely safe dont fileshare and dont break the law!

I wonder how this will turn out. To my knowledge, most of these so-called "anonymity enhancers" only serve as security blankets (you know... those little blankets we all had as kids?). I hope it is phenomenally successful, though. Watching the RIAA lose their minds over this stuff has become entertaining over the years. Imagine, if you will, if they could no longer see the people who are downloading music. They'd go mad(er).

As far as breaking the law, how many other countries are there to "run" to if the swedish law comes after them? Besides, it really doesnt matter what you download..the lions (law) never gets all of the gazelle. You take a chance every time you download contraband (which in the U.S., unfortunately means Mp3s.)

And if the servers are located in a country which has no data retention laws and or, no copyright laws, then what? Can't see the North Koreans (for example) ordering the owners of a data center to comply with uncle sam or big brother, can you?
In my humble opinion these fascist corporations should start-up their own torrent site, get gazzillions from ad revenue and give all their works away for free and we the people will take care of the distribution of said works, by supplying the bandwidth. Everyones a winnar. Hold on I thought I seen some pigs fly by my window. Hold the press I was only dreaming again:P
Pity Obama didn't ask the corps " can we give the stuff away for free " and they reply "Yes we can". Oh sugar there's the pigs again

I just went to the url listed above to be a beta tester, entered my email, then was directed to a page full of "COPY ME" logo's.
I clicked on the USA styled one and got naked pic's of somebody's little girl.WTF man?????

I believe you owe bonville an appologie I have just entered my email was diverted to a page of copy mes clicked on one and brought up the same sick picture. This may not have happened to you but I can confirm what bonville says is correct.

but I run proper software and a secure system.. so I can't either verify or deny the things allegedly seen by others.
Hope all youz people are smart enough to use disposable webmail accounts with these shady anonymity people..
Does my brain decieve me.. or didn't we have this exact same scam a couple of years ago which didn't work as advertised.. it did work kinda.. but simple packet inspection showed the tracker ip .. the proxy port ip .. and the final destination ip .. for every packet.
I talked with the developer (or somebody claiming to be a developer) who was nice enough and answered all my concerns about the software.. except the one about the packet header showing the subscribers home IP ..which of course even on a web connected and set up vpn.. it must.
Your home ip.. whether connected via a vpn or not will always belong to your isp .. even if you use a proxy your ip will always still be in the packet headers .. encrypt it and a good packet sniffer with enough decryption power will get your ip from the header pretty quick.. the host and home ip's are always the same place in then header.. or join whatever swarm you are in.. and capture some of those packets after decryption... all will need the key pair .. have that.. have the data.. have the header.. have your ip
see.. I wouldn't pay for a service which isn't actually offering more than smoke and mirrors.
I guess we will get the same thing here, unless this is just an exercise in gullibility and email phishing.
BTW.. I'm not rubbishing the bay guys.. I have been a member for years and I'm a strong supporter of their stance that public information mut remain freely available to all.. whatever that content.
I just know enough about networks and encryption and proxies and isp's to know that those who are offering to "sell" you an anonymity service are firstly after your money.. and secondly not actually capable of doing what they say... or at least not in the way they make it sound.
sorry guys.. snake oil. suppose it's one way to pay for the lawyers while keeping your ferraris XD

Is there a data center in North Korea ? In fact is there anything except nuclear missiles and food for the dictatorship ? Even the ordinary working people find it difficult getting food to put in their mouths.
That would be the problem as in most other developing countries or most of those that have no copyright laws - they have such atrocious networks and connection lags that it would be worthless opening servers in those places anyway. I know, having paid big bucks to run a server in malyasia, Hing Kong and then Singapore - downtime was about 50 % of the time and even when up , network problems made it unreachable a lot of the time.

Nether had i, i got the same message as varnull. used my junk Hotmail service.
Varnull is right, as all info crossing the web must have a destination usually encoded in the header of the sent information.
of coarse the service is better than nothing- Nothing is like jumping around with a target on your back saying come get me.

Those 2 guys are NOT lying, just are caught in a misunderstanding. If you look at the bottom of the IPREDATOR page, there's a small logo which is linked to kopimi.com; a couple of those kopimi logos you then see (the 2 at the top) have 2 NON-kopimi web addresses associated with them.
While the 2nd address was simply a Sophos virus database link for the "Copy-Me" malware, the first was a link to "http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/tweenies/messytime/games/copyme/index.shtml". Whether or not any nasty content was there is unknown; it's been deleted since.
