I've been an occasional lurker in the AfterDawn site but decided to step out of the shadows. I've got a relatively new 360 after my last RROD with a lite on drive that I've been thinking about flashing. Unfortunately I've switched over to just using a laptop several years back so I know I would at least need a PCMIA sata card, a ck3 or something similar and some luck. I've been reading up on the current state of 360 modding recently, and I thought I'd see if there was anyone in the nearby Boston area (I've moved up to the Somerville area for grad school) with a ck3 or other serial dumping device who might be interested in helping me out some afternoon. I realize that after I get the dumped key and flashed to ixtreme 1.51 I would no longer require the ck3.
Anyway, if there's someone nearby with a bit of time, I'd love the help and I would certainly come bearing some tasty home made cookies. Nothing says electronics fun like peanut butter chocolate chip cookies,
Ryan, I am close to you but unfourantlly I don't have the tools to do a lite-on. The only thing I could recommend is that you ship it off. Or you could check out craig's list if you trust it. Manchester usually always has someone modding.
I thought about perhaps getting someone on craigslist, but for the price, I'd rather just buy the pcmcia card, and the ck3, even if it was only used once. I've worked with computers for years and don't really mind the idea of opening up the xbox, but of course it would be nice to have the help of someone nearby who has already done it.
I'm also considering picking up a cheap red ringed xbox off of craiglist, attempting to fix then flash that one and using it for all of my offline fun.
Possibly. I think I'm now leaning more towards picking up a red ringed system off craigslist or ebay, attempting to repair it, and modding it. Assuming the rrod system doesn't have a lite on drive, I'd probably be spending about as much on it as I would to get the ck3. But I'm still certainly debating on what to do and any advice would be appreciated,
