Hey guys got my chipset through the post today, Im ready to go! Did a couple last checks and came across this quoted text on xbox-scene
Quote: It is also recommended that you do not use your X360 to power your drive while the sata cable is disconnected from your MB. The E64 error generated could be logged and use as an indication of a potential change in firmware. Your options are
* Use a console that is already banned or 3 RLOD
* Use a Connectivity Kit
* Do your flash without the vidocable connected which gives you 5 minutes. This will activate the power without initiating the CPU that monitors the E64 error. If you are prepared well, this is enough time. If you take longer the x360 will shut down which is not good in the middle of a flash!!! Be sure to restart it before the flash to give yourself the 5 minutes.
Is this what everyone does when flashing their xboxs? This will be the first time Ill be flashing an xbox so I doubt Ill be done in the window given, also with the Sammy flash it requires you to run a DVD first before loading JungleFlasher so that eliminates 1 minute, leaving you 4 LOL!
Is this E64 error really going to be logged? Thanks in advance guys!

thats old stuff. it is true, but new 360s will still power up even if the video cable is unplugged. old ones go to flashing red lights, new ones just load up.

I used my XBOX power to power my drive and I did not get any issues with the AV cable plugged in. If you are worried then you can always buy one of those connection kit thingy-majigies

On the older units which flash 4 red lights when the av cable is not plugged in, the 360 will shut off.
There was a release awhile back where MS stated they were eliminating the 4 flashing lights due to av not being plugged in on new consoles because people were mistaking the 4 rrod as being the same as the 3 rrod and they were sending in their console for repair.
I have an Elite and it does shut off with the av unplugged.

Yep my console flashes 4 red rings if the AV isnt plugged in. Wont boot up so I guess I dont have a choice, going to have to leave the AV plugged in and risk it?

Risk what?
As long as you have the av cable plugged in to the 360 there's no risk. It won't shut off. It doesn't have to be plugged in to the tv, just the console.

if your scared then dump the key and turn the xbox off. once its off make your firmware and everything then turn it back on and start writing. its not that hard, it shouldnt take you 5 minutes to flash it.

There's pretty much no risk using the 360 to power up, since this isn't proof that the 360 has been actually been flashed. They can't ban on an E64 error only.

Oh no. The latest firmware is 1.5.1 and you need it to play the new games.

The E64 error can appear for other reasons also which is why M$ can's ban on it. (fingers crossed anyway)
