Hey all, I've been having a bit of an issue playing Wave 3 games on my IX 1.4 Hitachi XBOX 360, specifically Guitar Hero Metallica. I used the ISO patching tool that supposedly makes it possible for the game to load on 1.4 but I just end up getting a disc is unreadable error. I used a Verbatim disc burnt at 1X in IMGBurn. I have been searching high and low for help, but have come up dry. If anyone could help me find a simple solution it would be greatly appreciated. Stealth is not an issue.

More than likely, a large amount of games from now are going to come with the 3rd wave partition so I would just go ahead and upgrade to 1.51 or go ahead and flash unstealthed firmware to your drive. It will save you a bunch of time.

Can you reccomend a no stealth firmware for a Hitachi 47 drive? I don't need the latest updates since the console isn't on XBL. Also, do I need to take any special precautions when switching firmwares?

There isn't non-stealth for the Hitachi so you will need to go with ix1.51. Only precaution with Hitachis is always restore back to the original firmware, and then flash ix1.51. Never flash over ix firmware.

WHAT? No stealth for Hitachi? Only recently have Hitachi's even been capable of having a stealth fw. Everything prior to ixtreme is an unstealth fw for Hitachi. I'd personally use the OPA 2.4 FW if you wanted a non-stealth FW.

Sorry, my bad. I don't like to deal with Hitachis and the firmware before iXtreme. Thanks for the correction though. I figured go ahead and put the latest iXtreme on so incase the person would ever decide to go on Live, they wouldn't have to reflash again.

So if I flash this OPA FW, do I still have to back up the IX? I ask this because I don't have my original FW saved.

You need to read your dvd key from the 1.4 firmware. Once you have your dvd key you can apply it to the other firmware and flash. Never lose your dvd key.

Does is say 'dirty disc' after asking you to update? I had this problem after patching, all I had to do was download the latest dashboard onto a USB stick, and update it that way.

Hey man, thanks for the tip. I downloaded the latest Dashboard update from Microsofts website, installed that then Guitar Hero Metallica played perfectly. Thanks a ton, I was on the verge of giving up!
