Wrapped the wire around the end of the smooth clip. The smooth clip was clipped to the "txd" stick in the max3232, which is plugged into pc. THe other end of the wire was wrapped around a safety pin, I used electrical tape to tape the middle of the safety pin so I can hold it, and the safety pin pokes into the R707 hole.
is that what the tut told you to do? does it work? try it. Sounds like you are missing a few things. What do you mean the chip is plugged into your pc?
I'm using the jungleflasher tutorial for how to flash. I don't have a tutorial or anything to help me with the max3232. I need to find one I think.
By chip I mean the rs232 serial port thing I bought from ebay. I plugged that into my pc. clipped a wire onto it, and ran the other end to r707 on the drive. I tried it with the pretinned wire and it didn't work, so I tried it again but this time used copper wire and again it didn't work. I figured I must be missing something, just don't know what it is.
the copper wire I am using is from an ethernet cord. ethernet cord has 4 colors, each color has 2 wires. I cut one of the wires and thats what I'm using now instead of the radioshack one. I left the material covering the wire, just stripped the ends so I can tie it to the serial port thing and a safety pin.
I'm guessing GND is ground and vcc is power. Can I attach a wire to removable panel on my pc for the ground? Where do I attach the power? I've seen some where you have to cut up the xboxdvd drive power plug, but I don't want to do that.
In the 8th post of the link you posted, yaywoop shows a new "solderless" way. The rs232 I bought has 4 sticks in the back. txd, rxd, gnd, and vcc. And came with a cable that plugs into that. The same cable that he has the ground on dvd, 5v to molex, and tx to dvd wires coming out of.
So now I only need to connect the three wires into that cable. but i'm not sure where the three wires go now. the tx on dvd is the probe correct? to r707
edit: ok I got power to the max3232, rx is left alone, and the tx only goes to r707. Do i need to connect it somewhere else as well?
