Is it compatible with your Sky+ box? only you know the answer as you haven't said which digi-sender you have bought, why not contact your supplier for help and if it doesn't work send it back.

I presume that you have the IR (Remote) Extender (from the DigiSender Receiver) pointed at the IR Receiver of the SKY Box. With a lot of DigiSenders this can be a little particular and can take a bit of fiddling with. Typically it has to be very close to the Sky Box IR receiver. Also, on some DigiSenders you have to be closer to the DigiSender Transmitter Box with the Remote than you would to the Sky Box itself.

I'd suggest getting someone to change the position of the IR remote extender while you try and change the channel remotely (save you running from room to room).

If that fails try and change the channel of your normal TV (the one beside the Sky Box) from the other room. Bring the TV remote to the other room and position the IR Receiver from the DigiSender receiver close to the TV's IR receiver. If you can't change the TV channel remotely either it could be a problem with the DigiSenders IR transmitter/receiver ...

I suspect that if you fiddle with the position of the IR Receiver you will be able to change the channel.

The Sky+ remote function will not work with a digisender.

The Sky+ remote works with plenty of digisenders.

DigiSenders merely receive and re-transmit the IR (Remote Control) signals from the user's remote control. All standard digisenders should be compatible with all the different types of Sky remote controls (Standard, Sky+, HD etc.) and Boxes.

There are some instances where there have been issues (e.g.)
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=235621
http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/digisender.htm

Do a quick google search on "Sky+ Remote Digisender" and have a read.

Have you used a DigiSender before ? The transmitter has a short (1m) "magic eye" cable. This runs from a socket on the back of the transmitter, to a small box with a glass lens on it. The lens has to be placed close to the infra red remote control signalling port on the front of the satellite box (Apologies if you are fully aware of this :-) ). The eye has to be very close to the Sky Box IR Port and often it requires some fiddling with the position before getting it to work. Also, when pointing the remote at the DigiSender in the remote room often it can be a bit finicky as well.

Have a play. Perhaps as HiTech and tony_i have suggested your DigiSender may not work with the Sky+ remote. However, I would do some testing before deciding it doesn't or it's faulty.

Read again mate I never said it wouldn't work I said is it compatible with the sky+ box remote/receiver, it usually lists what type of receiver it will work with but is down to the OP to post more info so that others can help, as the OP hasn't replied since his/hers first post I would wait for a reply as we may be wasting our time here ;).

I made my statement on the strength of the answer to the FAQs related to this product, as well as other discussions I've seen.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...ource=1&DOY=3m8

I'm under the impression that the Sky+ remote not sending a regular IR signal prevents the IR eye working on digisender. There's something unusual about the signal.

This is taken from another source:

Q) Will the remote work with Sky+? - steve
A) I would recommend you contact Sky to confirm if your box is an IR or IRDA unit (as IRDA is not supported by the remote sender on this unit).

I hope I'm wrong and you get it to work mate. Let us know.

One of these links doesn't even mention Sky+. The other is from 2005. Sky+ remotes have moved on since then.

Still, hope my info is wrong and he gets it working.

HiTech you are right, no point providing too much info if the originator doesn't seem to be engaged. I'm new to the forums and was using this as a trial run (checking the automated e-mails on replies etc.) ....

tony_i: I was just suggesting the originator do some research and giving him a few links

A 2009 Link :-) http://www.letsautomate.com/11021.cfm
See the 'Compatibility Chart'. As HiTech suggested earlier, it may (or may not) work. Depends on the DigiSender, depends on the box it is trying to control ....

Friday night. Time to have a few pints and try to throw some good darts ....

Fair enough. Whether the OP is bothered or not, it's good to learn about these things. I have a sender and I think it's great. Certainly saves you tracing wires everywhere.

I see the one you posted is a 2.4GHZ, which are awful by most accounts.
