Okay, i'm relatively new to Wii modding, but not at all new to modding in general. I have read all the stickys, and looked around quiet a bit..but i'm still left with a few unanswered questions? I'm not sure any one person can answer them all, but i'd love to have any help possible ;)
-Is there a site that contains all the old firmwares that the wii has? My firmware is 2.0 i think, but i'd like 3.3.
-Once the Homebrew Channel is installed, if i update my Wii, will it stop working?
-Are there any Applications that allow me to boot Wii ISOs from USB/SDHC? Or Gamecube ISOs? **
-Are all Wii games Dual Layer?
-What does the term "Scrubbed" mean? My best guess is that the cutscenes were cut out of the game to make the ISO smaller?
-Can I go online with old firmware?
-What are some Apps that you recommend?
-Is there anyway to get rid fo the Forecast and News Channels?
- No, but you can update from a game disk with the appropriate firmware.
- The new firmware, 4.0, is a maybe on that. It just came out and some people are saying that it breaks the homebrew channel, most are saying that it does not.
- Applications? No. But you can get a device called a flatmii, which is a drive replacment. And it will let you boot your wii isos via USB from your PC.
- No. Only smash bros is dual layer.
- Not quite. Scrubbed games have the padding or 'junk data' replaced with different junk data that compresses well. If an ISO is zipped or rared it will not compress that well. But if a scrubbed ISO is compressed it will shrink down quite a bit.
- Yes
- Depends what you want to do. Personally I use the classic game emulators quite a bit. Other people use other apps more frequently.
- No, but you can move them to the last page of the wii menu so you dont have to see them.

So if the scrubbed version of smash bros fits on a 4.6gb DVD-R, it's because of the "Padding"..And no quality is lost?
Originally posted by M1ndgame: I believe in the case of ssbb some content is removed to make it fit on a single layer DVD. I think all that is removed is the HUGE music directory.
So SSBB is just a special case because of the DVD9 thing?..Okay well using a different game, like Wii Sports. If Wii Sports is Scrubbed, no quality is lost?
The only real reason for anyone to scrubb a game is to make it easier on the people downloading it. Any scrubbed game will still inflate to the standard 4.37 GB once it is uncompressed. So... Yes no quality lost as the only part of the game that was "removed" was the junk files that fill the unused space.

Okay, thank you very much for clearing that up for me =)..On the PS2, some games cutscenes were chopped to make save space, and I just wanted to make sure that's not what this was.
I believe in the case of Super Smash Bros., the Subspace Emissary (story mode) cutscenes were replaced with the same one (i.e. the first cutscene is the same as the second is the same as the third)
As huge as the music library is, it doesn't take up 4GBs. If it's any consolation, the cutscenes are not that important.
