I know there are a lot of unknowns as of now.

My problem is.
I updated to 4.0 not thinking anything was wrong.
I had the HBC installed.

so wondering if there is a way to softmod it to play backups (gamma, ect.)
I can install wads just fine. I just put two on the wii. no prob's

any help would be great thanks.

You just got lucky, since you can install WAD in 4.0 then you can also install the Gamma backup channel.

are you sure you have the correct backup game and media? do you see ios 249 at the bottom?

where should i be looking for ios 249?
at the load screen?

The backups work i have tried them on another wii with wiikey

see the image attached:

error 324 the backup game is not burned properly mostliky media problem, used verbatim -r. borrow from a friend on backup game to make sure it not the gamma loader.

There are games that will work on modchip but not on Softmod or other way around. Try with other backup games.

Since punkrockX did not update the thread i will:

He already have prior to upgrade cios8.

The solution was:

1) He installed the IOS60

Open Homebrew Channel and run IOS60 installer, when it boots it will ask the following:

"do you want to download and install IOS61?" SAY NO PRESS B
"do you want to download and install IOS60?" SAY YES PRESS A
"do you want to patch IOS60?" SAY YES PRESS A

After it's installed IOS60 it'll ask:

"do you want to download and install the newest shop channel?" SAY NO PRESS B.


2) he re-installed the custom Cios rev8. Develop by Waninkoko for 002 fix.

Now everthing works.. This will serve other Guys who faces similar problem like punkrockX.

If he can confirm this.. that would be great....

no, you need cios (rev7/8/9) to install ios60 not the other way around.
