Hello. recently installed dvdinfopro to check quality of backups. I was testing Terminator 3 and it got to 96% complete with no problems, then the errors started. Does this mean the disc wont play, or are some of the read errors unnoticeable in playback? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi
In my experiences any read errors found with dvdinfopro will show up when playing on standalone player eg freezing or pausing.I also found it was best to test in dvdrom and not the writer.Errors found with writer caused no problems in 5 players.Errors found with dvdrom problems in every player.
Errors are usually caused by poor media or program used to burn.Try different media, then try another burning program.
Also check the dvd in player see if it freezes etc.
Hope this helps.

I tried the dvd from the last 4 chapters on. (didnt have time to watch the whole thing), and it palyed fine. I assumed that would show me any errors, since they were in the last 4% of the movie. As far as media, I use 4x Onidtech dvd-r's, and DVD Shrink and decrypter. Ive heard that if i slow down the burn time it will increase quality. Any thoughts on this?

Sounds like the DVD is OK.
Never heard of Onidtech DVDs though.
Dvdinfopro will tell you who makes the disc.
Then you could look through the forum to see if there any good.As you say try burning at 2x speed and then run another test.
I burn Arita +r 4x at 6x and have no problems.
Its just a case of finding decent media thats compatible with your burner.

Mark, thanks for all the help. I had never heard of onditech either, I actually got that name from dvdinfopro. im in the process of watching the movie right now, actually, and so far, so good. When the dvd is written, does it do the movie first or the special features, or does it vary from disc to disc?

Hi Zach, not sure I usually do movie only.Get rid of all the extras and the movie auto plays when you put it in the player.Less compression and the movie is always just as good quality as the original.
Would be interesting to start a new thread.Somebody out there will know.
