Are you referring the CK3 DVD connectivity kit? If so, all drives don't require the CK3, you can use the XBOX 360 to power the drive. Connectivity kits just make it a bit easier to flash and such.

Yes, for virgin Lite-ON drives you will need a key extractor.

So I just need the tool that lights up when you touch the small hole? I don't mind using the 360 to power it. I did on my benq.

If you want to use the Probe or the Spear, you will have to use the specific DVD connectivity kit in conjunction with the key reader. If you just had the spear or probe, and used the 360 to power the drive, there is no way to pull the info from the drive because you aren't using a serial connection or USB.

Just my two cents here but I once I broke down and bought one of the kits and probes it made my flashing life much easier since I don't have to use the 360 system to power on the drives while I'm flashing. I just take them out hook up the power and sata boom done. Again that's just my opinion of these kits.

I have just put up a right fight on ebay for the only ck3 tool on there which is a ck3 litev3
Do I need the probe to get the lite on dvd key or can I do it with just the ck3
help would be appreciated!

74850C = Requires Probe
83850C = Does not require Probe
Once again, DVD Connectivity kits are for convenience. It makes it a lot easier to mod the drive without having to move around your 360 and power supply. It has been rumored though if you power the 360 on without the DVD drive connected, it could lead to a possible banning.

thanks for that I need to get a probe now.I was buzzing this morning when it turned up cos what I did like a fool was erased the drive by accident as I was just fooling around with jungleflasher.I have done a benq before.I don't suppose you could extract it from a dvd drive that has fried the power on aswell,maybe by powering some other way

No worries man. I wasn't trying to rag on you or anything like that. You can wait and possibly use this XBOX 360 for homebrew, part it out and make some of your money back, or buy a new one.

You can get the probe to do 74850C Lite-ONs in the future, but there is no fixing this XBOX 360. You can flash iXtreme firmware back to the drive but it won't play games.
The DVDkey needed to be retrieved before you erased the firmware. Now that the firmware is erased, there is no way to retrieve the DVDkey as it doesn't exist now. Using the probe on this drive will do nothing for you.

cheers I will look into it later.
I have another question for you I was given another 360 but the fan was not working on it so it was 2 red lights is there another way to power the fan up somewhere else on the board so that it won't come up with the 2red light thing

There is a possibility of doing that with the Infectus 2 modchip. But the process is very complicated and there is a good chance that it only works on older consoles.
