Problems with flashed dvd drive

A while ago I payed $40 for a pc store to flash a 360 dvd drive but I took that drive out of a brocken xbox 360 and I planned to switch it with the non modded one in my normal 360. thir both hitachi, the only difference is that the modded one is version 47dh and the non modded one is version 47dj. I switched making sure that i pluged the cacles correctly. I decided to test out a normal store bought game that i had but when my xbox 360 loaded it up it said "To Play This Disk. Put It In An Xbox 360 Console". I switched the drives back and my game was working normally. Did the guy brick my dvd drive. or is it incopatabile with my console or anything else. Please help.

To make the other drive work in your system, you will need the key from the original drive, and put it on the other one. Each drive has a unique key, so that the 360 and the drive can communicate with each other. If they are different, then you will run into problems.

I do not know the process from extracting the key from the drive. I know how to do it for the Lite-Ons but those are much more complicated. You may need to google for it, or search around the forums here!
