Use JungleFlasher for the LiteOn. In fact, use it for all drives now! I use to use iprep all the time, but JungleFlasher is a whole lot easier!

You should just be able to run the PortIO32. If you're on vista, you may need to right-click on the PortIO32, and click "Run as Administrator". Because then you will be able to extract the key from your drive properly. Also so it can be recognized in Windows.

I have not used iprep with the Liteon's, in fact, I didn't even know it was possible with the Liteon's. So if what I told you doesn't work, then hopefully someone here can fill you in with iprep for the Liteon!

I have done the EXACT same steps you have and had the EXACT same results. What the hell is going on here? Heres my story as posted in another forum:

Same problem here. I wonder if its a new issue with SP3. On bootup Windows detects the new hardware and gives me the option to install drivers for it. But once I try to give it the porti/o32 driver I get the "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware." error and then it just goes back to letting me try and pick another driver. Also I dont have the viaraid.sys file on my computer at all, so no issues with windows auto assigning that driver.

Anyway have any idea why we can manually assign this driver to the card?

Okay, so I just pulled the HDD out of my computer, replaced it with a spare and installed XP SP2 on it and tried to get the portio32.inf driver assigned to the card again with the same error... Im starting to think its an issue with this Sata controller card. I bought it from a link I found in I cant remember which xbox forum through a website called TekGems. People were saying they were using this card to flash xbox drives.

iXtreme says that you can use just about any modern sata controller built in a motherboard, so now Im going to try that route. Ill post back with what happens.

Now I just tried to assign the portio32.inf driver to one of the two sata controllers on the motherboard and got the same error message. Something is wrong with the .inf file... I went and downloaded the original (possibly newer version) from the makers Winford Engineering, and again just got the same results...

I have tried doing this on three computers now (another that I didnt mention above)... what the heck is the problem here?

To add more to this I bought and tried a different SATA card (still the VT6421A chipset) one that lots of newegg reviewers said they had used to mod their xboxs and still get the same error. This is very dicouraging.

I have also tried getting the Key using iPrep in DOS but that fails too. I am starting to think Im just not meant to have a modded box...

Okay, just tried installing Windows 2000 on a totally different computer that I havent tried before and got the SAME error when trying to install the portio32 driver. Something is seriously wrong here. I cant see how any of you who say this works are actually getting it to work.

To install PortIO32 Manually, they have the files inside JungleFlasher. Open up your JungleFlasher Folder, and there should be a folder called "manual_install". Open that and there is a readme.txt on how to install the drivers manually. Here are the instructions for XP Users:

Quote:
Windows XP
----------

1. Open the Control Panel.

2. Open the "Add Hardware" wizard. If you are using Windows XP's default "Category View" for the Control Panel, this is done by clicking on "Printers and Other Hardware" and under "See Also" on the left, click "Add Hardware".

3. The wizard typically displays a screen explaining what it is used for. Click Next to continue.

4. The wizard may automatically scan for new hardware. The scanning will not detect anything related to PortIO32.

5. You may be asked "Have you already connected this hardware to your computer?" Regardless of whether you have installed any cards yet, click Yes.

6. You will be shown a list of the hardware already installed in your computer. Scroll all the way down and select "Add a new hardware device"

7. You will be asked whether Windows should search for the new hardware. Select "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list"

8. A list of hardware categories will be shown. Select "Show All Devices" (On some versions of Windows this may be called "Other")

9. Click the "Have Disk" button and point Windows to the "win\driver" directory of the PortIO32 distribution.

10. A list of drivers found in the directory you specified will be shown. Select the "PortIO32 Xbox 360 Device Driver" item and click Next.

11. Click Next again to "start installing your new hardware."

12. The files will be copied and installed. Click Finish to complete. You do not need to restart your computer.

You dont have to install it at all. Just leave windows with no driver installed for the sata card, and when you run a modding app like say jungleflasher it will access the sata card through the portio32 driver on its own as long as you have it in the jungle flasher directory. You dont need to really install any driver... They make it sound confusing in the tutorials.

Ya, I don't know what you're smokin' but you should install the PortIO32 drivers, because usually when you don't, you will get the BSOD when power cycling the drive! I don't get how it's that hard to follow simple instructions to install a driver! It really isn't that complicated!
