Hi all

Im hoping someone can rescue me!!

last week all of my channels starting jumping. it wasnt too bad to start with and got worse and worse and became unwatchable. I then tried to do a re-scan and it found less channels (the channels were still unwatchable). every time i tried a scan it kept finding less and less channels. now there arnt any :-(

Ive tried my box on a friends connection and it worked fine.

im in the newcastle area, Te*ew*st, use a splitter (tried removin the splitter for scans).

When i try the power scan, on the screen where it shows you the signal strength/quality, the quality flickers from 80 to 86ish, then drops to between 0 and 15 for a few seconds then back up.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks to anyone that takes the time to look at this, much appreciated.

I had the same problem , it turned out to be the cable lead. funnily enough. Tried re flashings, tuning, splitters on/off, everything. So buy a new or try another co-ax cable. worth a try. hope you get sorted.

how soon is now?

dermo, i think he has a tuner or connection problem on this occasion. As some of his channels are unwatchable.. this could explain why he is picking up less and less with each retune.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I will try it with a new cable - its worth a shot. It now only finds a handfull of channels and none of them watchable. just says "bad or no signal". Signal strength bar is still shooting from the 80s back down to 10 etc.

I hope the new cable fixes the problem. Freeview isnt the answer!

You tried your original Set top box from your cable supplier? sounds as if you have a cable/connection problem as already said.

Yep well out of date, flash with this >> http://www.4shared.com/file/93931904/aff...02-09_DarX.html

Follow the eurovox flashing guide at the bottom of my post for instructions on how to.

do you think that will fix the problem?

Just had me puzzled why it gradually went down hill. i thought if it was the software it would have went off straight away...if that makes sense??

Yes I know what you mean but it needs updating anyway, flash it and we can go from there, the new firmware improves signal problems (apparently).

Spoke too soon HiTech!!

The picture has started breaking up and i get a lot of "bad or no signal" messages.

Could it have something to do with it being peak viewing time??

Thanks and sorry for the hassle!

Hi again, sorry the new lead didn't wotk like mine.. Im suprised it's returned after a new flash. Maybe simply check all scart connections or try a different scart. regards

thanks troutalan, ill give it a try.

although i would have thought that if the scart was the problem it would be the whole piture that was jumping and pixellating - the menus are fine (i probably also wouldnt get the "bad or no signal" messages)

its worth a try tho! thanks

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Another update.

tried a mates box on my connection and having the same problem so it looks like a cable problem and not the box.

would it be worth telling v**gin that my broadband signal keeps cutting out and ask them to check the line?

also, as ive said, the signal quality keeps goin from rought 80% down to 10% then back up. when i turn the eurovox signal booster on it goes up to roughly 99% and stays there. is it worth buying one of these adjustable signal boosters and try and get some stability?

thanks again

Yet another update....

Tried a variable attenuator and still having the same problem. The signal quality is still yo-yo-ing from roughly 80% to roughly 10% and back up?

Anyone have any other ideas before I give up??

Thanks
