Hey, I was wondering if anyone could lend some expertise. Last night I was trying to flash my 3rd lite on drive ever, and I had some serious issues. The first 2 went trouble free but this one was different. First, the equipment i used was the same for all 3 except the software, which was the latest jungleflasher and the other 2 were earlier releases.
I use a VIA VT6421A sata card, the XBOX 360 DVD Power Adapter - Version 2,and the addon Lite-on com port DVD key extractor, with spear from diygadget.com.
Again the first 2 I flashed were easy and trouble free, but when i tried this one, jungle flasher kept giving me the bad key dump error, and the 4th time I tried to dump it, my whole computer froze up. When I rebooted, the drive seemed to be dead, and wasnt ejecting, or being recognized by the pc. Since then I have tried everything i can think of, including dosflash, soldering the 2 points together and hotswapping, and none of it has worked, and it is still non responsive. The chip on the lite on gets real hot now, when i plug it in. I am positive that i didnt plug it in upside down and pay really careful attention to that, and sure i didit all the exact same way, but I am beyond stumped. Anyone have an idea?
Thanks
Eric

hmmm... this has happened before... refusing to give serial data. Try searching for your symptom( not sarcastically, this really was discussed in the last few weeks). Some guys reported liteons that just wouldn't give up the serial info. I do recall something about the flash chip getting hot also. I don't think their's ended up bricks but I can't quite remember.

If you tried all the other methods of flashing, your sure you didn't power it up wrong, and you DID NOT unplug the power to the drive while reading, then it shouldn't be a brick. Try dos one last time.

Does the 360 throw an error with the drive connected to it?

Wondering if it will give you a E64...

Or the middle light will constantly flash and the 360 will reboot itself continously...

when hooked to the 360 , the drive is unresponsive, but the console does boot to dash and seems fine, other than the drive... no errors.

When you were going to dump the key, how did you eject the drive? Hit eject and then disconnect power, push half way in, and then give the drive power?

Or pushing the bar on the bottom to do the manual eject. I'm wondering if the laser and rails is down to accept a disk, if it is, push that back up into the upright position. I'm not for sure if that would cause the drive to be unresponsive though.

i killed the power on the way in. I've tried to get it to work in the 360 by pushing up, opening the drawer manually and starting it and every other combo I could see. This drive is the first out of about 100 I've done that has really kicked my ass. i seem to have bricked the drive without having a clue why.
