1. Create a WBFS partition on the device, and load a game that is known to work onto the device
how do i do this?

until there's a stable gui, like winhiip for ps2, i'm sticking to ripping from the wii. yeah, it wears out the laser, but it's more solid.

starting to rip all the games. did four games within 20 minutes.

tip: exit and go back to usb loader after each game install. mp:3 wouldn't install after mario party 8, but exiting and going back in let it install.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

just google net framework and get the lastest version. depending on your connection it might take a while.
You don't need to google for everything. Just make sure all your windows updates are ran. Framework is a part of windows and new releases are in windows udpates.

OK after hours of smashing my head i got it done and here i leave some tips:
1º grab your usb disk pop it on your PC use either gparted ( Linux ) or easeus partition magic ( windows ), and delete/make new partitions, set them has Primary and format has Fat32( make sure its primary or won't work , at least was why wasn't working on me ).
2º download the windows wbfs tool.
3º go on cmd and execute it ( if your using vista type cmd then while holding left ctrl + left shift hit enter , this will open cmd on Administration mode ) navigate to the folder you have the wbfs tool.
4º run wbfs_win.exe X init ( where X is the letter of the drive )
5 run wbfs_win.exe X add x:\path\to\your\iso.iso ( change x:\ for the drive where u have ur iso and the name path also )
doing this should make you play from ur usb if it is compatible with your wii

there is a nice gui who is working good so far is the Maximillions WBFS Gui ( dont forget to right click and run has administrator if ur using vista )

p.s. ( to navigate on windows command line "cmd" use cd x:\where\you\ant\to\go , when u type for example c:\us and u hit tab it will auto fill with things starting with us press it again to cycle trought it e.g. c:\us will go to c:\Users )

SSBB does not take that long to rip. mine was under half an hour, and the rip is 3x bigger.

It depends on the USB device you're using. Mine has slow write speeds and overheats.

I got his all working with the USB loader 1.1 and finally got my USB drive and the Gui to load on vista..

I wanted to make a back up of an origional and was trying to folllow the tutorial in here but couldn not get the IOS file you had to google so found this way a great way of making a backup and once I used the USB Loader 1.1 to put my original to the hard drive I put the ISO from the drive back onto my vista PC and burned it with imgBurn and it works too and was way faster than the other way I read about making backups.

Well good!!

Thanks Fibre..

Whats channel loader for the USB loader?

Im guessing its gonna let me add a channel on the desktop/menu for any of the games so the kids dont have to go into the USB loader in homebrew?

I was worried about this and would appreciate a pointer to the info..
Thanks again..

Perhaps silly question, but why would I want to load my backed up games from a USB instead of from a disk? Is there a load time benefit?

I've had a few issues with my backup disks (Smash bros crashes after every match on solo), so this might be a great boon if it does help with load times.

Also, can I backup my backups to USB or must they be the original copy?

Q: Can I put the ISO on my Hard drive through Windows?
A: Yes, the WBFS Tool.
Command line or
GUI
this is the part that i'm not sure about,
i am using my 4gb usb stick drive at the moment, works great
but i did not partition this, so that means i can't dump the games onto my pc, right?
so if i wanted to dump the games onto my pc to burn to dvd i would have to reformat the usb stick drive with a partition?
do i put the wbfs tool onto the usb stick drive of can i leave it on the pc.
i am going to get a 320gb hdd soon.

you should be able to transfer back to PC using the same tool the GUI. Using the GUI WBFS tool the PC should be able to detect the 4gig as a drive then choose ADD from the gui to PC.
