Im not sure if your asking me fibre but as my quote is in there I will reply..

I have winxp pro and am updated to service pack 3 on this machine and that GUI program would just not run on this pc even after I did the .net framework install and reebooted.

I have anothet system here that has vista ultimate and it ran on that without a problem.

:-)

M8, think you are on the wrong topic, Wii DVD dumper and ISO/USB boot loader are 2 different thing. Wiidump too complicated and slow. Go to first page ofthis post and read first, before posting.

as for my question earlier, I did some research and saw the following on worlpool regarding the USB loader:

Quote:
Benefits are as follows.

1) FAR less loading time in games
2) Get rid of that noisy ass wii laser reading discs
3) Many games on a single drive, no need for discs
4) Supposedly has better region free capabilities (have not tested this out myself yet)

original thread here

Can anyone confirm/deny these benefits of the usb loader? It sounds cool but i don't want to fry my HD and/or waste my time if I can get all the same functionality from burning ISOs onto DVD.

well, just got the vantec enclosure; the silver nexstar SX 2.5". it's a 1/5 chance the wii will detect it. the main reason for me getting it is for the on/off switch.

but if you want full guarantee, get the AMS venus DS2 enclosure. works everytime i use it.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

The topic will NOT be 3 to 4 pages if it doesn't work..if you read the post/thread you should be able to figure it out. so depends on the external media(hdd/SD) you are going to used.

I'm not asking if it works, I'm asking if it is worth it. Maybe not everybody using this has the DVD loader working, or maybe they are using USB loader for other reasons.

My question is for someone with the DVD loader, does installing the USB loader provide added benefits?

yes it is worth..but again do'nt get frustrated if your HDD not detected/recognized.

As you listed:
Benefits are as follows.

1) FAR less loading time in games
2) Get rid of that noisy ass wii laser reading discs
3) Many games on a single drive, no need for discs

the only issue is the media that you used, used verbatim -R or similar media like your friend, learn from him how he burned his games.

As far as HDD compatibity check list below:

I used Maximillions GUI and it copied and extracted to my WD HD. When I load the usb WD HD in the wii and boot up Wain's USB loader the game does not show. What am I doing wrong? I would much rather use windows to copy my games then the wii. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The biggest issue I had with Maximilliens GUI and WBFS on Windows XP was a "command not supported error" which was attributed to the directory length of where both my WBFS/GUI and the ISO images were saved.

After moving everything to the root (I used C:\WII) everything worked out fine. Just an FYI to anyone else having problems, it may be worth trying.

Can't wait to get this working on my wii.
My virgin Wii has firmware 3.3U, and want to make sure before I attempt to install anything. Here are my proposed steps.

1. install HBC
2. upgrade to cios rev 8
3. upgrade to 4.0 via nintendo
4. install cios rev 9
5. install usb loader 1.1.

If my wii accepts the rev8....I should be good to continue right? If not...then I might have to downgrade my iso before I can install rev8? Just want to make sure i perform the correct steps.

Sort of. If you don't install ios60 (I think) before upgrading, you're sol. So read carefully.

Here's a better safe upgrade.....

get usb loader and other apps files etc.

1) install HBC
2) (for 3.3 only)install the Wii fix guide (for wad instalation and playing DVd backup)
3) install cIOS9
-- test all apps and WADs for USB loader/ WAD installation/gamma loader.
4. install ios60/61
test again USB loader/ WAD instaion/gamma loader it should not impact.
5) upgrade to 4.0 via nintendo and verify after upgrade if you have now 4.0u
---test again USB loader/ WAD instaion/gamma loader it should not impact.
- test the new SD feature
- test Wii shop channel should be no error

--- DONE-----

returned the nexstar SX for the CX model. works with the scorpio black. only gripe is that the SX is the only 2.5 enclosure with a on/off switch. but at least the CX works on the wii everytime.

take note; the SX i bought was the silver model. there's a black one too. the SX and CX uses the same controller chip, and i thought the wii wouldn't pick up the CX model. but i was wrong.

Did this last night, my wii is at 4.0U and I had no problems installing anything. I did have cIOS rev8 and IOS60/61 installed prior to updating to 4.0 but had no problems getting this to work.

Installed cIOS rev9
Installed USB Loader 1.1 Channel
Starting ripping games to HD
