I am using a usb external samsung SH-D162C dvd rom with Kreon firmware with schtrom 360extract v3.2, after selecting the samsung drive and then press extract I get a message on screen saying "cant open device handle" can someone help?

Try to use Xbox Backup Creator and see what happens. Just wondering, do they make a usb external samsung SH-D162C dvd drive, or did you just place the drive in an external usb enclosure? If it is the latter then try to use the drive internally on your PC if you can and see what happens.

Hi gear2d the samsung is definitely an external usb dvd rom drive purchased ready to plug into a laptop already installed with the proper kreon software. I will try axbox backup creator and let you know how I get on

I tried xbox backup creator but find that the start button is greyed out and allso the message saying this is not a 1 to 1 copy of the image. when the sammy is connected to my laptop the sammy drive is recognised but when I am asked to insert an xbox disc it wont recognise the disc. H.E.L.P.

Are you 100% sure it has Kreon installed?
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Does Xbox Backup creator recognize the drive? Should be seen as
TSSTcorp DVD-ROM SH-D162C SB00 at (...)
Next line should say: Additional Info: Kreon V1.00

Hi Eisherz, when I plug my sammy into my laptop it appears as drive F: I am asked to insert a disc but nothing happens from that point the game disc is not recognised. I should ask you the sammy came already with kreon preloaded, I thought that was all i needed to do was plug in and go. I received a drivers and utility disc with the sammy but I did not know if I had to do anything with this disc. could you give me any ideas, hope this info helps thanks

hi gear2d yes I bought the drive from Modchip-stores as advertised with kreon firmware already installed can anybody give me some pointers???????

Maybe you could try to contact the place you bought from and ask how to get it to work. Maybe you received a defective one. If they cannot help I only see that rip the drive out of the external and install it internally and see if that works.

I was actually referring to this here:
Does your drive get recognized here? Does the additional info say Kreon?
When you put in a game into the drive it should normally start in DVD mode and tell you to put the game into an Xbox 360 (assuming you didn't disable autostart).

Hi Eisherz, thanks for the info I now know what info to look for when loading and reading the dvd drive, I am now having problems with my computer even finding the samsung drive when I connect to my laptop. I think the drive may be faulty, I went to a friends house and I could not find the drive on his computer.
I have emailed the shop and have requested a replacement. Thanks for your help and I will let you know where I am when I get my new drive.
