Yes its safe, For increased safety however, id advise you to upgrade offline through USB or a prepared CD. (the second never really worked for me)

From Xbox-Scene

The team released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. Sometime over the next few hours when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you'll receive a prompt to accept this mandatory update. This update addresses interruption issues that some Xbox LIVE users may have experienced when playing a limited number of Xbox 360 games.

There are no other changes or enhancements in this update...in other words no new features.
This update will be rolled out to all Xbox LIVE members around the world over the space of a few hours, so you may not get prompted for the update immediately.

if it is asking you for the update, and you dont accept until later, either way your still banned right? at some point in time you have to accept that update, which will ban you. at least thats what i have always thought.

Major Nelson confirmed this update is compatible with iXtreme drives... haha just kidding. I just got the update, and still going strong.

This is just wrong. You can't take this statement as fact. It is very possible that MS can release a new method of detecting backups in any system update. With that being said, it has not happened anytime recently. However, it is something that could be done, so saying it always safe performing system updates is not correct.

need jtag help? Xbox 360 console repair? PM me or chat
