Hi,
I have 14 Wii games and have been using Rawdump to back them up. For the first 9 games I was able to dump a game in 3.5 hours but for the last ones it took 5.5hrs to dump one game. I have not changed any setting on the PC nor the drive.
I'm using a LG 8164B drive.
Please help.
Thanks!

I had the same problem, but never did get a response here... from what I was told elsewhere it might be a sign the drive is dying. But mine hasn't yet. It's still slow though...

Like I said, that's just what I was told... it might not be true. I'm curious to see if there are any other responses. I'd love to be able to change a few settings and get mine working at full speed again! I was always able to rip a game in under 2hrs before it started slowing down!

Wild guess:
Not all games has the same data/information. e.g. compare Wii sport with Brawl..Depends on the game your ripping...

I've ripped a good 60-70 games, all were ripped in under 2 hours. When the drive slowed down I tested some of those games that I had previously ripped in under 2 hrs and they all took 3.5-4 hrs... so that's not the case.

I've tried cleaning the lens too but didn't help.
Another thing, not only did the dump time almost doubled, the write and verify time have also be lengthen almost 1/3 it's initial time. That happened with games that was both new and old.

Did you check to see if DMA settings have been changed under IDE settings?

Just thought I'd mention this... I recently came across 2 more drives, both 8162b's, and I bought them (one for $5cdn and the other for $10cdn, both local so no shipping either! I couldn't pass them up for that price!) Anyway... they are both slow like this. I can't see getting 3 identical drives all on the brink of failure... I'm starting to think it has something to do with the computer/settings and not the drive itself. I've checked my DMA settings, nothing has changed and all is correct. Anybody have any insight to this?

I've tried that. I've even gone so far as to do a fresh install of Windows XP, no luck. At this point I'm about ready to give up. I can't think of anything else to try. I think I will just have to live with the slow dump speeds.
