E74 back to MS?

I have read a few posts of people sending E74 back as RROD. Have they caught on to this? Is it still an option? Has anyone here successfully done this?

I believe if it is within the first year of the console, they will repair the E74 for free. If outside of that first year, they will charge. They don't cover E74 like they do RRoD. But what I have heard is people keep wrapping their 360s in towels to induce the RRoD or just plum lie on the phone to get it covered.

ya that what I heard. Or tell them sometimes it RROD other times its E74. I bought a broken box with a good seal said it was red ring but realy its E74 one red light. I dont think they lied just not properly described. I could probably fix with xclamp replacement but would rather just make MS do it if I can. Would you guys suggest just telling em its RROD or the towel method. if I do the towel I'm afraid it might not go red ring and I would just be doing more damage.

Yeah, I've read cases of people just telling MS that it was RRoD and they ended up getting theirs fixed for free. Ultimately it probably depends on the technician and the center.

The whisper fans work awesome. More air flow and the color is pretty cool looking glowing out the back.
