i dont want to wait if i dont have to for firmware update to 1.51 so i looked around and found a sata card at best buy but was wondering if anyone has tried it or not.

If it has the VIA 6421 chipset it will work.

Actually not true with the VIA 6421 chipset, I have onboard SATA with intel chipset I was able to retrieve bins with JF and erased and flashed with Iprep.

belenos, didnt mean it that way, I meant to say there are different type of chipsets that work, but the VIA 6421 chipset have better results.

the via, or an nforce chipset IS REQUIRED for SOME models of dvd drive. Others can be flashed with most or all other chipsets.

OP was only talking about a SATA card. And any SATA card with a VIA 6421 chipset will work, with all drives.
