Hi,
I've used and google and search but am having problems understanding this.

I want to rip my blu-rays so that I can play them on the 360, is it possible to play back 5.1 sound this way. Also, am I able to recode the DTS HD to be played back on the 360?

Hey Ya

The 360 does not have a blu ray player in it. You would have to stream the video. Check out tversity

do you have a blu ray burner? You will need one if you don't. You may be able to use dvdsanta or dvddycrypter. problem is blu ray is 25 gig, so be prepared to hog up some space.

yea but you can condense a BR down to like 2-4 gigs (as these are what i DL from my various sites). not sure if they retain the full surround. i believe they do, at least on my center they do.

Come talk with us on efnet at #elitemods !!! or just click ME

ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

Wow, that's pretty small. Of course, I guess it depends on what the movie is. I have seen some half-hour series that small.

My movie rips are between 4.5~6.5 gigs. I only rip them to 720p, just to save space yet have less compression than 1080p. And they still look beautiful. I don't burn them though, I stream them.

And yes, you can keep the audio.

thats what all the BR rips are on funfile it seems (720) that is. but they all look perfect to me, as i know for a fact that my eyes cannot tell any difference between 720 and 1080. so i dont see the point of dling a copy of it at 8 gigs when i can get the same thing for 2ish.

Why burn anything? I use a flash drive for all my movies and tv shows that has a capacity to hold multiple Blu-Ray Movies in size so the issue only lies with the playable format. There are programs out there that will burn and convert the file into a alternative playable format i.e. .mkv or .mp4. I don't know the full extent of the conversion but 720p movies are crystal clear on my 58" and it does play in surround sound however I don't know whether that is from a separate discrete audio file or matrix via my receiver. I doubt you can get either 1080p or DTS-HD/DD-HD via the xbox. And with the cost of external HD nowadays I keep most of my movies on a 1T Drive and just copy over to the flash drive when I want to see them.
