So, express your opinions of the two. Benefits, non-benefits, risks, likeability, reliability, durability, and stuff like that. I personally like the original Xbox 360, not that I have a problem with the modded one. I like it because there's no risk of being banned when playing on live and that's about it. Some people think that might be stupid, well that's your opinion.

modded... all the way.

54.99(average price of new games) X 4 = 219.96 = arcade system

2.50(price of a single verbatim) X 4 = 12 pack of budlight = 4 very cheap games for your MODDED 360.

The only disadvantage is shorter laser life... so lets add that to the equation: 2.50 X 4 + 38.00(price of new drive) = 50.00 = less than the price of a sinlge new game (net savings = 112.00 for the first four games), add some more games and your xbox is essentially FREE!!!!!!!! Well worth the risk of banning. At the present time, banning can be avoided sucessfully!!!
Those are my thoughts of contrasting mod vs. non-mod.

i know the non modded one is more comfortable to play but come on $59.99 a game. I'd rather take the risk and flash it. Plus there are stealth patches in the games we burn so being banned is most not likely.

Expensive Verbatims. At my local electronics market they are like 17 $ for 10 (actually, it's 13 Euros, 1 Euro= ca. 1,35 US $). Ebay has them for 10 Euros for 10, so one = something around 1,35 US $.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

personally, it wouldnt matter if verb's where $10 a piece- your still saving $50 per game. as long as you realize you MIGHT have to purchase a new console to get on live, i say take the plunge.

Good analysis Bd911

I'd say this post pretty much says it all as far as this thread topic goes

I picked up the last two 100pk spindles of DVD-R Verbatims at a FutureShop here in Canada for $29.99 each and a 20 pack of DL DVD+R Verbatims for $24.99

How are you guys paying so much for them?

I'm getting a 360 later this month and I personally decided on not flashing due to the risks involved (warranty voiding, risk of getting banned from live, etc.) Plus I never buy latest releases for the games that I do buy because they are too expensive. I wait until it goes down to a reasonable price. For example, the way I think, why pay $60+ for say Star Ocean now when I can play an older but solid release for half the price or less and then enjoy Star Ocean later? The 360 library is so large that I see no need in breaking down and paying $60+ for the latest game. I know I'm in the minority since the majority of game sales occur within the first weeks of release.

But if you are willing to gamble on the possible consequences of pirating games and you have enough technical know-how to fix things yourself instead of relying on the M$ warranty, then by all means flash. I would be extremely pissed if I got banned/RRoDed/etc. before finishing like 6-10 games (cost of a replacement Arcade given that I don't buy games full price) so ultimately that's why I won't flash.

I got my 360 on launce day and didnt decide to mod it until warrenty ran out. I also decided to but an arcade system of Amazon(on sale) at the same time because i expected to get banned but i play my back up of COD 4 on live everyday and still not banned ;)

We here in Germany got the ****ing GEMA, who takes a bite (8.7 Euro cent per hour capacity) out of every media (CD-R, DVD-R etc.) sold. They are supposed to represent the artists/music industry, their latest action was to try to get money from youtube for every music video viewed, so youtube blocked music videos for German users.

Flash the drive with iXtreme firmware. It will pay for itself in the end.

Why would this put more stress on the laser if you are playing DL games? How long are we talking before it dies? years?

burnt games have much more imperfections in them and are harder to read so laser works harder.

I bought my son a PS3 about two years ago....I was an avid PC gamer, but bought myself a 360 3 months ago, modded it and I've never looked back, Funny thing now is my son only plays the 360. So, I use his PS3 to watch movies.

I worth it to mod the box.
