Update cIOS36_rev8 to cIOS36_rev9

Hi Guys,

Using the tutorials and files in here I modded my wii with homebrew and wii gator backup loader.

When I ran the software I noticed that I had cIOS36_rev8 in the home brew channel so used that for the wii gator setu section.

Now Ive downloaded the files again today and see that cIOS36_rev9 is in the folder and I wondered how I update to this?

Do I just run through the Wii Gator steps in this turotial again http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/735325

Or do I need to go through it all again including the October fix?

Comments apprecaited as I dont fully understand whats all in these wads etc I dont want to brick this Wii but want it up to date.

All you need to do is run the cIOS36_rev9 it will install over the rev8.

No need to mess with any other files.

I also noticed the wii gator file in this newest downlaod is nammed diffently and from the one I downloaded the other day, whats there now is WiigatorGamma.wad and the one I first got was called WG_03_Backup_Launcher_Channel.wad do I need to update this too or are they the same?

The difference is the old channel version would not boot into the settings when pressing 1. The one I have included now does.

So I would recommend uninstalling the old channel version and install the one I have included with the pack now.

So id be better removing the old wii gator loader first then run the cIOS36_rev9 and do the steps again as if from scratch for the wii gator section..

Whats the correct way to uninstall the wii gator file I origionally installed. I read a post about a user bricking a wii removing the wrong wad's

Sorry to be a pain asking but Im still finding my way round all these wads and IOS files.

Place the WG_03_Backup_Launcher_Channel.wad in the wad folder. Make sure the WiigatorGamma.wad is in the folder also.

Now run WAD Manger 1.3 and go to WG_03_Backup_Launcher_Channel.wad in the list and press the - sign. This will delete the channel from the system.

After it has deleted the wad channel from the system the list will come back up again. Now go to WiigatorGamma.wad and press + which will install the newer channel to the Wii System menu.

After it has installed press the HOME button to exit WAD Manager.

Now run the cIOS36_rev9 to update the cIOS (this step can be done before or after running WAD Manager).
