Hey guys....Im having problems with a backup copy of MK Armagedon. Im using wiigator backup launcher channel on firmware 3.4 along with cios rev_9. When i load the game thru wiigator it loads, gives me the white control & strap warning screen then it takes me to the first screen which is the differnt controls you can use to play the game and after that screeen the games just freezes. Gives me a black screen with no error code or anything. It wont let me reset the wii so i have to do a force shut off by holding down the power button. Anyone have a similar problem? Could it be that the game was not dumped or burned properly? Any suggestions would be great. thanks

Use IOS Version Patcher to change IOS to 249.
So download IOS Version patcher.
Drag the ISO into the IOS Version Patcher.exe file and type 249. This will patch the IOS version it usses to 249.
Now burn ISO to disc.
Go HERE for a list of games that work or don't work. They will also say if they need patched.

Larry..... I went into the homebrew channel and clicked on the WiiGator Backup Launcher Gamma to check what ios its using and on the bottom of the launch screen i see it says "backup launcher 0.3 gamma, ios249 So im assuming i already have the patch your talking about. Unless theres something else i have to do?

Some games use an IOS version that is not compatible with WiiGator. You need to patch the backup ISO to use IOS 249.
Follow the directions I gave you above and it will work.

i googled ios version patcher and i see a couple different ones (1.0 and 1.1) which is the correct to use and do you have a tutorial on how to use this? Ive never changed the ios on an iso so that might be a problem for me. If you can guide me on some links that would be great. It sounds pretty easy to do but i would like to get a bit more info before i do anything. also do i need the original game for this or can i just use my backup copy?

Get the newest version you can find 1.1 should do.
I gave you directions above. Just drag the ISO into the ios version patcher.exe file and then type 249 then ENTER.
Then burn the ISO to disc.

Hey Larry youve helped me out before in other threads and i wanted to thank you but i have a couple more questions......This is what i have done so far.
1. Downloaded ios patcher 1.1
2. Put backup copy into dvd rom of my laptop
3. Burned a copy of the game onto my hard drive using nero. I got an NRG file.
4. Draged the iso (in NRG file) to the ios version patcher exe on my desktop.
5. Opened ios version patcher and it said that iso currently had ios17(i think). so i typed in 249.
6. Gave me a message that said it was a success.
........Now my question is do i get the NRG file that was dragged into the ios patcher exe and burn it again? Did the patch change the ios on the original file or should it of created another NRG file and put it on my desktop? Im trying to make this as clear as possible. Thnaks again for you help.

It patches the original backup copy you riped with Nero. It will not make another NRG/ISO file. Just burn the NRG file that you dragged into the IOS Patcher.

I bought this game a long time ago, and unfortunatley since then it has become hopeless scratched due to a certain irresponsible family member (along with many others). After spending upwards of eight days downloading a backup copy, I was livid when I put it in and got "black-screened". Then I stumbled across this thread...

hello larrylje,
I have been having the same problem with this game for awhile and I followed your directions step by step and still cant get it to work. If you could upload the patched file on a server i really would appreciate it. I have tried just about everything. I have a chipped wii and a softmodded 1 but still cant get it to work.thanx in advance

Wouldn't that be ilegal? to upload the patched file and give out the link?
EDIT: Dang it, I just burned a backup of Mortal Kombat Armaggedon this morning and the game boots up just fine but then after it tells me what type of controller i can use it hangs on a black screen and the wii remote turns off.
If i would have read this post i wouldn't have wasted a DVD xD.
Oh yeah Larry i got that other game working, i got this backup launcher that autoforces NTSC. It also made a couple of other games work, that wouldn't work on the original Launcher.
Just patched and burned the image file of MKA and its working perfetly now, thanks Larry!

suave....if you follow the instructions that larry gave me above it should look without a problem. its really easy to do.. just follow the steps above and you should be good to go. PS The game kinda sucks anyways.....not what i expected. After playing DC VS MK on my 360 i expect all MK games to be that good.!
