Having massive problems with my wii and I'm hoping someone else on here has experienced the same.
The problem is during game play (doesn't matter which and happens on backups and originals) and only about 5mins in does it happen. All of a sudden the sound coming from the speakers and the wii remote become extremely distorted and very loud. Now usually two things happen 30 secs after, 1. the wii totally freezes up and has to be turned off or 2. game play will continue for a little but the sound will be way way out of sync with the rest of the game. Sometimes its saying I've won gold bronze silver medals over and over again and I'm in a menu screen or standing in game doing nothing. It will eventually freeze not long after.

Now my wii is chipped with wiikey 2 so instantly I assumed that. Removed the chip and same issue. Then I purchased a brand new drive complete with a new drive board that had never been chipped. Installed it and still same issues, even though I'm only playing originals now.

Have tried different tv's, cables, rooms everything. Only thing I haven't changed is the power cord though I can't imagine it doing it. Its an ebay item with a US plug that came with an adapter...

Any help greatly appreciated.

This sounds to me like a defective component overheating in your Wii. You probably have to send it in for repairs. If you do that be specific about the problem and describe it well. Otherwise the repair shop sends it back unrepaired after 5min of testing.

Is the wii still in warranty?, i would contact nintendo to get the wii in for a service, i have read in other threads that even you send it back with the HomeBrew channel installed etc then they simply dont care and will fix you wii (if possible) for a nominal fee if its outside its warranty

Nintendo Australia say if the Wii is owner tampered with (which it is) they do not fix and they throw away. They only offer you a $250 Brand New unit.

So know one else ever seen anything like this or know what component is failing??

Thanks

If you are skilled in electronics you can try to find the broken component and to replace it. Replacing stuff can be difficult, though. I'd try it like this:
- Buy a can of cold spray. You spray this onto components to cool them down.
- Open the Wii sufficiently that the innards (motherboard) are accessible, but that you can run it.
- Start the Wii and wait for the problem to appear.
- Selectively cool components using the cold spray to isolate the failing component.

Other options are:
- Buy a broken Wii with working motherboard and replace the motherboard.
- Remove the mod you've made and send it in, hoping they don't detect that you did tamper. Repair shops often send refurbished replacement units back immediately and the repair the units in batches, if they repair at all.
