Hello all. So I put the usb loader 1.1 on my wii and I am able to put a disc in and save it to the hdd that I have hooked up to my wii. but I can't hook the hdd up to my comp. and use the WBFS manager with it to add the iso's I already have on my computer. Is there any reason for this or something I missed? When I installed the WBFS manager it ran through the .net framework and did whatever it was supposed to do so I should be good with that. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Ender

missing info:

1) does your PC able to detect the HDD?

if not google how to add HDD, this can be done by adding in the registry...but you should be able to find out..If you used acronis or partion magic you can remap and assigned drive letter.

2) are you able to launch the WBFS Manager, which version? where did you get it?

hey thanks,

No I am not able to see the hdd when I connect to my computer. I used the wii usb loader program to format the hdd.

I have the 2.0 version of WBFS manager and I got it from wiinewz. It does launch but doesn't see the hdd as an available drive. Its in WBFS format so I don't understand why it doesn't see it.

So item 1 above should have answered your problem. When you go to device manager you should be able to see the USB HDD.

Other issue why the HDD is not detected is due to all ports are all assigned to other devices. You can use acronis or partition magic to manually map the USB HDD.

try below: post back if it solves your problem.

ok, the device manager does show it on there as does the computer management. However the dvd drive is labeled as drive E and the computers hard drive is labeled as disk 0, and the hdd is labeled at disk 1. Could this be my problem? how do I change the drive letter of that the hdd?

What os are you using?
XP shows:
when you right click there should be an option to change the drive letter or path either logical drive or pimary same as your PC.

Maybe just bacause XP could not recognized WBFS thats why it does not give you the option.

then all you have to do is format back to FAT32, have the PC detect assigned the drive letter then format to WBFS using Wii or PC.

ok so now I am seriously confused. I reformatted the drive and made it visible on my computer. then I formatted it and loaded it using WBFS manager and put an iso on it. I connected it to the wii and the games that I had put on it before were still on there!!! and the one that I put on there from the computer wasn't on there...what is the deal???

not sure what you did about the ISO file maybe your too excited that you drag the wrong ISO, but at least you did resolve the problem where your PC now is able to map the USB with WBFS?

did you refresh or reboot your wii?

ok finally. thanks alot man. I kept messing with the hdd in disk management and finally just deleted the partition and the logical drive altogether then started fresh with a logical partition formatted it to ntfs and then opened wbfs manager formatted it put an iso on it, plugged it into my wii and it works! :) don't really know what I did wrong the first go around but seems like starting over from disc management worked. I'd try to reformat alone and it didn't help at all.

Thanks again!

Can you post back which HDD you used so that other people will know which one works?

I had to make my partitions on the drive first (I used Windows XP's built in drive management) and then formatted the partition on the Wii. However, the drive letter doesn't show in My Computer.

In order to find out the proper drive letter, you will have to go back to drive management and find your disk in the list. It will say "disk x" (where x is the number disk) and the drive letter assigned.

The only reason it won't show as a normal drive is because it's not a file system (WBFS) that Windows recognizes.

plug you hdd into your computer open disk management, delete partition, delete the logical drive. Then start over again making it a logical drive it will give you the option to format it. Format it. XP only let me format to NTFS. Thats fine do so. It will ask you what drive letter you want to assign to this drive during this process.

After that get WBFS manager 2.0 (google) and load the drive onto it. Format the drive using WBFS manager. Then you can put iso files on the drive from the computer or plug the hdd into your wii and save the discs to your hdd and they will all work fine.

Hope this helps.

I am using Vista Ultimate x64. I had to make my partition a primary FAT32 partition to have it show up in WBFS Manager 2.1 x64. I tried NTFS first but that didn't work when I went to format the partition to WBFS I would get an error. Please note that there are now x64 and x32 versions of WBFS Manager 2.1 out. So if its crashing for you use one of those.
