Mate is flashing a lite on but has run into a problem and has no net to find a solution so I'm asking on here.

He got the info off of the drive, made a modified firmware with it but when he went to erase the firmware he said it did not come up with the xx72, he thinks it was xx4something. Now when he powers on the drive when connected to the pc the pc crashes.

Any advice?

sure.. this is rather common. referred to as "blank liteon freeze" or something like that. does he have a via sata chip? if yes are the drivers installed or not? if he has via try ticking via in jf and see if it still freezes. if so untick and remove via drivers, make sure port io is there (sounds like it or you woudn't have been able to read) anyway.. remove via drivers and disable in device manager and try again... still freezes? if so it time to try a dos method. Leerage will probally respond with step by step for ya, but if not just search for iprep, dosflash, or modification disc and those threads will walk ya through it.

He has now managed to fully erase the firmware using xbox mod disc. He went on to try and use dosflash to write the modified fw but it won't show up on the atapi.

So he booted pc again it now does not crash but when he tried writing using jungleflasher it says drive returned invalid status.

Not sure which JF hes using

well make sure hes using 1.55 or 1.51. if hes using the .43 then he probably didnt get all the information he needed when he dumped the FW the first time. but there is a program that will create the rest of the information that he needs when he goes to flash it.

He just text me saying hes got it detected in dosflash with status 0x52 and when he unplugs it it gives status 0xd2.

Any idea what he needs to do?

No worries. After about a 5 hour long flashing sesh for one lite on he finally managed to get it working. Thanks for your replies guys.
